OK. We'll confirm as the date nears. Anyone else?

BTW, I am going to CF after work to check out what fishes do they have now. Hope can find something interesting.

dinosor - January 4, 2005 12:36 PM (GMT)
ooo.. but fish farm almost all are selling community fishes ley. :)

joselim - January 4, 2005 12:59 PM (GMT)
Then what fish are you looking for?

I'd just came back from CF. This is my first time there actually. The place is quite nice, more than enough to satisfy a cichlid freak like me and the 2 gentlemen I saw there are friendly and helpful.

Was comtemplating the juvi HRP and Midas.. unfortunately the HRPs are too young to sex else I would have bought a pair definitely. These guys are less common than the cons but still proliferate like crazy.

Bought myself a pair of Redhead Severums instead. Young adult by the look of them but really cute.

dinosor - January 4, 2005 03:13 PM (GMT)
no money how to buy fish.. haha..
haha.. how much did u spend?
wahaha.. setup community tank ah.. then come kingfisher.. haha..
extreme friendly and helpful..

dinosor - January 4, 2005 05:30 PM (GMT)
bro. can postone to feb? maybe after cny..
coz just talk to some bro here.. all not free ley. till feb

joselim - January 5, 2005 05:35 PM (GMT)
OK, we'll see how then. Anyway, I've temporarily lost interest in Qian Hu. Going over to CF again later this week.. probably get myself a few HRPs if they are still available. Cute little buggers.

Does Kingfisher sell varieties of cichlids? Do they have a site you can point me to? If it's the typical "tikum aro" shop then can count me out. These days "tikum aro" shops remind me of Luohan craze a few years back. I think I can begin to feel for those Discus owners back then.. Still, I may get an Aro in time to come, but definitely not before I get a decent sized tank.

dinosor - January 6, 2005 06:09 AM (GMT)
no ley..
kf is mainly a planted fish shop.. a lot of community fishes..
the cichlids there only got the dunno wat m.. pecock.. <-- u know?
then got frontosa and zaire blue

joselim - January 6, 2005 08:12 AM (GMT)
OIC. Peacocks and Fronts are Africans. It seems to be the trend these days too. Wide availability has very much made aquiring of such cichlids very convenient, although I do have some reservations on the general quality of the stock..

So far I have not kept any Africans although I do find some of them to be quite attractive. For example, Fronts are really awesome and majestic fishes and I can't say I wasn't tempted to try them out. Hope I don't sound too stereotypical but somehow I gather CA/SA are generally easier to maintain which is why I refrained from setting up an African tank.

Furthermore, some of the fish in CF came from Jeff Rapps. I can't say there are no better sources of New World cichlids but generally Rapp's fishes are natural and the quality much praised. Coincidently I happen to frequent forums where Jeff does drop by and know a number of people who works with him so I can check his stock availability before ordering via the store.
