Hello All....
I have been looking at flowerhorns on the net and I am interested in getting one.
I haven't been able to find info on keeping them etc..
How many can you keep togethor in a tank? and if more than one can you keep two different ones or two males?
I have kept large fish before so I know about the filters etc in keeping perfect water quality just need some info on keeping them.

Thanks and I hope to learn alot here.

hi fish collector you should be able to find a wealth of knowledge on google search engine i havent had any problems.. these fish are very aggresive so one to a tank unless you have a divider?.. i have 2 in a 6ft tank but feel that they will outgrow this in no time at all.. some fish keeprs (especially here in the UK) dont agree with hybrid fish but i think its down to your own morals to make your mind up.. should black and white race never mate? i think its ok personally
im sure the other guys will be here any hour now with better info for you though

Hi,
You need to have a big tank to house 2 flowerhorns together. Depends on your flowerhorn sizes too. Flowerhorns can co exist with each other, but you need to have a good set up of rocks and hiding places, such that when a weaker flowerhorn wants to hide, he is able to . If you put 2 flowerhorns only in an open tank, you may probably experience 1 or 2 dead fishes by the next day. Never put a male and a female flowerhorn togther, other than for breeding purposes. I saw myself how one lfs tried to put them together once. They were fine for 4 days. On the fifth day,the male went on a rampage and tore off the female's mouth.
Perhaps, you can try rearing 1 flowerhorn in a 3 ft and understand its behaviour, taking your time.
Some of the things to take care:
1) Ph 7 - 8.5
2) No heater needed(if in countries like Singapore)
3) Big eater, thus regular water changes are needed.
4) Very temperamental creatures, so no socialising is advised.heee
5) HARDY
Generally, they are easy to keep. Where do you stay friend?

Thanks for the replys.... I live in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
I have kept all kinds of fish for years... oscars being the largest.
Discus being the hardest...lol
I really like the red pearls I think they are called. I am not super crazy about the huge headed ones... Kinda makes me think of my ex wife...lol
Does anyone know a reputable dealer who carries excellent stock?
If I get a young one I would like to have one with good gentics so that is looks good when it gets larger.
I have visited aquabid and there is a seller on there who goes by Ledcom... I think that is right.... has anyone dealt with these guys?
Thanks again,
