haizz..
y.. i do anything also fail..
corys which is very hardy compare to neon tertra..
but! i never expected that , my corys are just dying 1 by 1.. then i still could not find the root of the problem.. the first few that time is likely to be cause by guppies.. can see a lot of broken fins.. but after i gave my guppies away..
1 of them die with swollen mouth , i knoe something wrong with the mouth. dunno wat is the cause also..
but! my neon tertra are all getting fine.. how come ? water parameter comfirm is out from the doubt.
last time is flowerhorn parasite .. wah lau eh. i think i do not even had 1 day of rest ar..
really very unlucky for me this few years. :mecry:

fishyman - March 21, 2004 04:05 AM (GMT)
Good luck Dino!

I hope you won't give up on ur corydoras. Since u know your tank has got osme problems, then try to do more checks on the water parameters, and if needed, change water more frequently, e.g twice or even thrice per week at smaller % change.

Cories are hardy fishes, u can chk with almond on these. really no reason why they are all dropping like flies.

Good luck to you and your corydoras! :D

dinosor - March 21, 2004 08:15 AM (GMT)
i have added rid all anti ich. anyone can comfirm this medicine ? is it gd

fishyman - March 21, 2004 04:03 PM (GMT)
Dino,

why did you add rid-ich? your fish has ich??

If your fish kena ich, u'll see white spots on the fish, did you see white spots??

For the mouth rotting, add some melafix 1st, anti-bacterial and kills some germs in the tank.

Good luck to you! :D

dinosor - March 22, 2004 05:07 AM (GMT)
anti bacteria ? external or internal..
yep i saw them rubbing , early stage of parasite is it?
sad to say , the swollen mouth passed away..

fishyman - March 22, 2004 07:16 AM (GMT)
external bacteria....

dino, u have the medicine rite? go take a look lah :2guns: :2guns:

dinosor - March 22, 2004 09:13 AM (GMT)
i do not have lerz.. i got internal bacteria medicine only.. melafix counted or not? wah seh the smell sometime make me giddy..

B@@n - March 22, 2004 09:36 AM (GMT)
Dino.....
maybe u should consider changing
ur tank location...'FENG SHUI'....
wat do you think ???
;)

dinosor - March 22, 2004 01:32 PM (GMT)
i also want.. no space liao.. what to do.. sob sob.. :mecry:
now what i can do is to lower ph..
but how to lower ph once and for all ?

PearlJam - March 22, 2004 02:30 PM (GMT)
dino
saw ur thread in aro and replied u there. as i mentioned there, it is not wise to lower ur ph drastically. ur fishes will not be able to handle the shock. u will need to lower it gradually. find out the cause of ur tank high ph. any fishes that is living in unsuitable conditions will be stressed and fall sick easily. curing the fish is only short term. u must look for the root of the problem which causes ur fish to be stress.

dinosor - March 22, 2004 03:58 PM (GMT)
i also dunno what is the cause..
how abt mineral rocks? does it affect the ph? my tapwater is also alkali
never saw yr post..

PearlJam - March 23, 2004 12:01 PM (GMT)
tapwater ph shd be around 7.0. if it reads otherwise then there is sth wrong with ur house water. as long as u use normal gravel suitable for tropical fishes then ok. just dont use those coral sand types (usu very fine) for marine or cichlids.

dinosor - March 23, 2004 12:45 PM (GMT)
my hse tap water always 7 .9 around there.. jia lat..
nah~~ i use those suitable for all aquarium use.. normal river sand lo..haha..
jia lat ar.. how sia the ph.. wah kao eh.. what do u suggest??
if ask me to put the leave change and put for few weeks ok la.. but for months to years.. where got so free man.. same goes to black water.. EX.. haha.. driftwood dunno can lower how much.. jia lat jia lat..
** can i call the hdb or ? tell them y my tap water is at 7.9 so high.. or is there any email address?? woo.. anyone have it?

PearlJam - March 27, 2004 04:08 AM (GMT)
it is really surprising. maybe u can check with ur neighbours or nearby fish shop water ph readings.

how are ur fishes? hope that they have recovered.

OUr tapwater can be dangerous. try to do small water change only. if u surf other websites, u will find many pp fishes dying like nobody's business. best if u can use aged water. stock up one pail of overnight tapwater with anti chlorine added. better still if u can add an airstone.

dinosor - March 27, 2004 05:31 AM (GMT)
1 pail enough meh.. haha.. for 2 tanks? i dun dare to ask my neighbour lerz.. haha.. later go buy fishes and ask the fish uncle.. same block.. anyway i email the pub... hope they can do something about this..
the funny part is, the water ph is so high right. but my neon tertra which need the same ph as cory right.. around netural , but how come they are still so active..

PearlJam - March 27, 2004 01:53 PM (GMT)
i m no cory experts. anyway once u know the basics, u can apply your knowledge to the rearing of any kinds of fishes. b4 u decide to buy or keep any type of fishes, read up on the requirements and their natural environment. tis will help u to create a tank environment as close as their natural env. For e.g. i believe that cories are very sensitive to salt hence it is not wise to add too much of it. maybe our cory expert, fishyman can comment on this.

dinosor - March 27, 2004 01:57 PM (GMT)
yea.. fishy and almond.. cory expert..
just now went bens with almond .. whoo.. now then know someone very rich.. hahaha.. and saw fishy and his OC.. WAhaHaA...
review of my community tank..
2 albino, 3 leopard, 3 hoborcus, 3 black mask , 1 panda, 1 bronze, ( concolour coming in) , 6 neon tertra, 6 black tertra, 2 algae eater(going away), 2 oto ..
yep, pj cory cannot tolerate salt.. ^_^

pH in our drinking water is in fact controlled in a range higher than
neutral to maintain the wholesomeness of the drinking water up to
customers' tap. The pH range of 7.9 to 8.1 in your house tap water does
meet the World Health Organisation Guidelines for drinking purpose.

Hobbyists who manage their aquariums at home need to take precaution if
they want to use fresh drinking water in their aquariums. This is
because
some types of fish may be sensitive to pH as well as
chlorine/chloramines
present in the drinking water.

We would like to suggest that you condition the drinking water for your
aquarium. You may be able to find some tips on this in the ornamental
fish
website.
