Title: GROUP BUY
Description: Air Splitter Plate
Thunderbird2 - March 29, 2005 08:12 PM (GMT)
ACoA is now organising a GROUP BUY for the air splitter plate
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
1) Air Splitter Plate - based on the ProLex itemPrice is
$100 (or $125 NON MEMBERS)Price quoted does not include postage - shipping within Australia will cost an additional $10.00.
The air splitter plate is designed to increase the amount of air flow into the stock intake. The plates are made out of aircraft grade aluminium and will be finished with an aldine coating. Better quality then the ProLex items people!
The plate secures in place using existing bolts on the car, and some 3M tape under the lip.
The plates come in two designs - one with an air hole to allow air up from the radiator, and one without. Much of a muchness, but it is advised that those who have or intend to have forced induction engines, (which require an intercooler) should use the closed type, while NA setups should use the open type.
There are 8 of these plates on order - half are the NA design, with induction holes, and half are the 'turbo' design, without holes. Either is appropriate for a standard IS.
STOCK:No holes - 2 left
Holes - 1 left
--------------------------------------------------------------------------

--------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pls PM me for any details on this product.
All figures quoted are in AUD$ ...

These images show the 'closed' type air splitter plate. For those that want less hot air in their intake, or for those with turbocharged or supercharged setups, this is the recommended style.
Thunderbird2 - March 29, 2005 08:17 PM (GMT)
This is the open type (as seen on Edwin's car). Please note that the 'open type' ACoA air splitter plate will not look EXACTLY like this one, this is the ProLex item on which our plate is based.

Cashfree - March 30, 2005 10:33 AM (GMT)
Do these things REALLY make a difference? e.g. Torque, Hp - anything noticeable?
Thunderbird2 - March 30, 2005 10:40 AM (GMT)
Haven't dyno'd one yet... like the ground wires being discussed in another thread, i think it's more the principal of the thing that appeals! Those I have spoken to suggest that improves consumption around town since your getting less hot air coming up from the radiator. Certainly though, it improves the intake of cool air into the stock system, whereas an aftermarket pod can often simply increase the amount of HOT air going in.
I'm planning to stick with the stock intake on my car regardless of what mods i do to the engine down the track, so anything that improves the functionality of the stock intake sounds good to me!

Allows additional cool air to flow up into the intake.

Thunderbird2 - June 29, 2005 05:52 AM (GMT)
Bumpity. Only 2 with holes left.
Shane - if your coming on Friday night, do you want me to bring one for you then?
grinder - June 29, 2005 07:30 AM (GMT)
Matt can you get hold of one in carbon fibre?
Brian_J - June 29, 2005 08:05 AM (GMT)
Brett, if you are after it because of lightness then this is comparable if not lighter than carbon fibre. it is made from aircraft grade aluminium!!

No I actually have alot of polished alloy under the bonnet, Radiator, Custom fan cover rocker covers, Intake Manifold, turbo housing, water pump, all piping and braided lines. Just like to break it up at the front as I think it might be to much leading into the radiator.
I plan on hiding a lot of things in the engine bay with carbon. But talking about ligher, I heard you had a carbon bonnet. Do you have a pic posted anywhere? Could you let me know what it looks like. I'm after one with a vent, I think its Serrans bonnet I saw (I like it) where did he get that from?
Sorry for hi-jacking. I'll hunt Serran down and ask him.
Thunderbird2 - June 29, 2005 11:01 PM (GMT)
The plates have an aldine coating, so they can be painted. In all seriousness, this would probably double the weight of the plate - they weigh next too nothing.
Thunderbird2 - July 2, 2005 10:51 AM (GMT)
1 left with holes, 3 without.
grahamd - July 7, 2005 10:31 AM (GMT)
I'll take a no holes version.
Was going to make one up but I see someone has done the hard work already.

Can someone used this product give us some feedback?
Thunderbird2 - July 8, 2005 08:41 AM (GMT)
I'll have mine on soon. Will report back then. As i said before, there may be a perciptable difference on a dyno, but as far as bum on seat is concerened, not sure how much you will feel.
Graham - check your email.
eyezonmei - August 18, 2005 04:21 AM (GMT)
Sorry to dig up an old thread but just recently got into the modifying mindset.
Are these still available?
Thunderbird2 - August 18, 2005 05:10 AM (GMT)
1 left i believe. I'll PM you.
Graham - will be sending yours this weekend, it's proving difficult to ship with damaging!
?uestlove - August 18, 2005 05:52 AM (GMT)
Matt! I still want it man!!
Thunderbird2 - August 27, 2005 02:24 AM (GMT)
1 left with holes, 2 without.
1 of these is on hold for Andi in Germany, and if Shane ever decides to email me and deposit some funds, then another one will be sold also.... (hint hint!)
I will post pics of mine which is now installed finally! Goes well with my TRD radiator cap! Combined, these nearly double my horsepower.... :D
z3ak - August 27, 2005 07:35 AM (GMT)
ill take one if their not all gone
gozilla - August 29, 2005 03:52 AM (GMT)

Whats the cost to get it shipped to NZ?
andis200 - October 5, 2005 07:35 AM (GMT)
Any news here? Fizzled out?
Thunderbird2 - October 5, 2005 01:40 PM (GMT)

I just fitted mine. It is a C-One with hole. Only problem is it was sent to me in buble wrap i mean come on use a box. The thing was nearly split in half t was so bent. What should have taken five minutes to fit took an hour to try and clean up and was difficult as buggery to fit as so warped. i spose it looks all right now but i'm still not entirely happy. any way will post a pic in a few mins.

Thunderbird2 - October 22, 2005 05:35 AM (GMT)
Damn, Callum: Air splitter, TRD Rad cap, TRD oil cap..... you must be pushing some serious kilowatts...! :D I have TRD rad cap and Altezza Club air splitter, which is certainly worth more kw then a C-One splitter :P
I'm waiting to hear back from our supplier on a lead time for another batch of these, since we have enough interest to produce another run. Price will be as before + shipping for those not in NSW.
ctk1 - October 24, 2005 07:48 AM (GMT)
The three make a remarkable difference to the performance of the car, the oil cap helps to prevent the oil from becoming to viscous, the rad cap helps keep the coolant cooler, and the air splitter not only directs the air, but as the name suggests splits the attoms within the air promoting a turbine effect of the air which in-turn makes the air fuel mix more potent. Combined these mods result in around 0-25hp.
I should be in marketing. hehe. :woot:
SSML - October 24, 2005 08:09 AM (GMT)
sorry a bit off the topic!
wah. CTK1, I didnt know the aftermarket oil filler cap and radiator cap can do so much in terms fo hp improvement!
how does it work? do they give better seal? I dont get it?
Thunderbird2 - October 24, 2005 09:28 AM (GMT)
much  - classic!
Meanwhile, back at the topic, our former supplier is unable to do another run of these for us, which leads us to the group buy route. I (well, Brian) will enquire about organising one via Greenline, and via our workshop, and see which comes out best. I will be away for the next 2 weeks, so please direct enquiries in the first instance to Brian_J. Take it away Brian! :D
Brian_J - October 24, 2005 02:25 PM (GMT)
will do captain!
gimme some time to get some numbers together
