Title: Search Feature

BuckoNZ - March 21, 2006 10:25 AM (GMT)
Not sure how anyone else feels, however each time I use the search feature, I get little to no results.

There is tonnes and tonnes of great stuff on this site, however finding it is another matter. Often someone starts a thread on a topic that has already been covered several times before and it takes "one of the originals" to post a link to the original thread. Just think if the search feature worked properly or better, it would save everyone more time and effort!

Just my 2 cents!

I second that. I know there is a lot of top information on here about the Altezza but i'm buggered if I can find it.

You can go on google and just search within this site.

Yes, you'll have to use google..

The search function doesn't work, and although Invision have talked about it, they have never managed to get it to work! So don't hold your breath!!

it sucks that it does not work. Having not really been into the car seen until now i have heaps of questions and the search feature would be so useful. Sorry that i am posting topics that have been covered eleswhere,

That's a same. I read some of the post (you're usually involved Greeneye's) and my vision starts to blur with some of the detail. Just a pity we can't easily find it!

we have been pestering Invision Free about this, and they basically keep maintaining that it is 'work in progress'

It frustrates me immensely, but using Google is a genuine alternative:

Open Google
Type your search string, eg. "TRD exhaust" then site:altezzaclub.org.au

So your search string will look like:

"TRD exhaust" site:altezzaclub.org.au

Thanks. This will help us all I'm sure! If possible, it's probably worth while, if the facility is there, sending out a group email/PM to all members informing them of this? Just an idea.

I would like to take this opportunity in thanking ALL of the contributors and especially the moderators. I don't know a hell of a lot about cars and it's nice to know that the knowledge is there and that it's shared so freely! Thanks again.

Be aware that the Google aproach won't always be that up to date as it will depend on when Google last cached the site. Shouldn't be too much of an issue as the recent posts display first in the forum, so if any are relevant you should notice them before searching the archive.

Other downside is that the Google search won't cover the sections that you can only access by logging in.
