Title: [NSW] Altezza Club Circuit Thread
Description: 26th July – Saturday Wakefield Park 2008
Altezza Club - June 20, 2006 12:49 PM (GMT)
The Track Day ThreadAs we can't run a Netz Cup style event with 30 Altezza's on the track, circuit events usually run through an MX5 Club, Circuit Club or similar track day. Because of this, places are strictly limited, and payment will be required up front, and early, to secure your spot.
This thread is to announce and discuss these track days. Heading to Wakefield? Winton? Eastern Creek? Sandown? Post up the details below!
For Circuit Club attendees:
Download the Circuit Club Entry Form here, fill in the details, and send to Narada to secure your spot. Narada's contact details are on the form.

At long last(!), the club is announcing an official track day at Wakefield Park.
As we are not expecting to run a Netz Cup style event with 30 Altezza's on the track, this event will be run through an MX5 Club track day. Because of this, places are strictly limited, and payment will be required up front, and early, to secure your spot.

Is this still a goer!
Traffic seems to have stalled :P
Thunderbird2 - September 5, 2006 11:57 AM (GMT)
Indeed it has. For me, this is now subject to me getting a suitable seat.
We need more expressions of interest on this thread, then we will choose a suitable day, wether it be Circuit Club, Open Day, or MX5 Club day.
Shane, that MR2 better be there also.
Brian_J - September 5, 2006 12:20 PM (GMT)

black200 - September 5, 2006 03:04 PM (GMT)

bmalar - September 6, 2006 02:00 AM (GMT)
Has there been a wakefield day before??
Just wondering what times people were pulling around the circut? I was trying to look for Serran's times but couldn't find them :(
black200 - September 6, 2006 06:54 AM (GMT)
he was doing 14's on semi's in the wet i THINK, so a 1:18 or even a 17 is a reasonable number for reasonably skilled pilot with all the suspension kit!
well im hoping to reach 1:17 one day :D
Mos - September 6, 2006 03:49 PM (GMT)
If the semis aren't too wide they have every chance to stick better than full treaded tyres in anything other than bucketloads of water... (100km/h in blinding rain was when mine *started* to show problems)
If a factory sprung IS (with decent rubber) has as much cornering grip as a sprinter doing 1:19s there should be little reason the 1:18 or 17 is not achievable with good rubber and suspension. I doubt we'll have problems with brake fluid on factory engines.
Didn't a bog stock slushbox IS200 do a 1:20? I'm sure I read that somewhere on these forums...
The said sprinter was faster (with 50ish rwkw) around wakefield than another sprinter with 140rwkw but without suspension. The bloke that bought my cressida couldn't better 1:21 even though it had 222rwkw... IS should be sweet, even with factory power (but for now that's speculation - gotta get out there to try it :))
As much as I'd like to go, it's likely the date will fall somewhere in the middle of the conversion... Although a benchmark time would be nice ;) realistically this month is really really bad :) (gotta finish wiring on two other cars before toyotafest).

Parusing thru the papers at work an cut out this
Wakefield - 'FOR SALE'
RESIST - September 28, 2006 11:43 AM (GMT)
I own a stock standard EL Falcon, mayb able to put that on the track if I know date and cost etc.
Haha, dont all laugh at me to much
Thunderbird2 - September 28, 2006 08:05 PM (GMT)
The people who laugh, Stephen, are the ones who aren't going! It's not what you've got, it's how you use it!
I'm not up for this yet, at least until i get hold of a seat that is suitable. I'm hoping that will happen in Nov. and then i will tag along with the AE86 Wakefield Day in December, which i will post up here. But if anyone else is going down, let's hear about it already!
DReMpT - November 27, 2006 11:37 PM (GMT)

Is it a Goer? Yes!
Of course! Is this particular Typhoon relocating to NSW?
When? Not sure yet, whenever we can collectively get time off. I'm not in until i source a suitable and affordable seat, as i cannot fit in my car with my helmet on (damn sunroof!)

Whats happening here?
I would love to have a go at this.. In the ute
When can we do this?
storms_of_fate - March 5, 2007 11:06 AM (GMT)
Charlie, Brian, Eggbox, myself and a few others attended the last Circuit Club track day at wakefield. Long story short, considering that everyone did pretty badly due to the hot conditions (I think), the fastest non "factory" car was a 1:12 DC2, then the 1:14 Z4, the Altezzas did really well, especially consider it's their first time on the track. Very impressed, and showed quiet a few cars who's boss... Supra, MPS 3 amongst others.
Here are the results for the day:

I cant wait to get out there again!
Thunderbird2 - March 6, 2007 09:39 PM (GMT)
Well, some of our bretheren were at Wakefield last weekend for a Circuit Club track day - i will move details into this thread for all to see.

Next Circuit Club day is at Eastern Creek, i believe. Brett, i think the ute would love EC!
black200 - March 6, 2007 10:49 PM (GMT)
ec is no good as a first timer track. Too many walls methinks
wakefield ftw
Mos - March 7, 2007 01:34 AM (GMT)
Should I decide that 3/4 of a timing belt is sufficient I'll be down there on Friday.
Teins went in last night, alignment done at Spinning Wheel this morning. Fluids changed last night.
(Timing belt is rubbing against the cover and some (1/4) of it is not there anymore and turned into fluff... so there's something probably wrong at the bottom of the engine - it's only gotta last another month or so... though I have my doubt if it'll last the drive down to Goulburn, let alone a thrashing on the track...)
(Anyone have a second hand timing belt they'd be willing to donate? :))
Mos.
Thunderbird2 - March 7, 2007 09:58 PM (GMT)
I'm sure we can drum one up. This would be a worthwhile exercise Mos, a before and after dyno run might be ok, but a before and after track run will tell us alot more about your conversion!
Mos - March 7, 2007 10:52 PM (GMT)
There are still two spots left if anyone wants to go to Wakefield on Friday - I realise it's extremely short notice but if someone can make it it's available :)
Pulled a bit more apart yesterday and there has to be something else damaged, like a bent bolt/shaft on one of the idlers/tensioners to skew the belt forward. Installing a new belt will just just eat it up as well. I think it should live 2-3 weeks before the V8 goes in..
As you said Matt, before and after would've been super :)
BTW, I'd expect the IS in its current form to be faster around wakefield than the sprinter was. The power to weight is slightly higher in the IS and the first impressions with the suspension is more a lot more corner speed with a softer ride than the AE86, and the brakes are much much better.
Mos.

Walls?
Pfft I dont care about the walls. I'll have a crack. You would be suprised just how well the ute handles once your used to it.
Thunderbird2 - May 8, 2007 11:09 PM (GMT)
UPDATE looks like some of us will be attending the next Wakefield Circuit Club event, June 11th (Monday of the Queens B'day long weekend)
http://wp.circuitclub.com.au/?p=164
wu` - May 12, 2007 07:41 PM (GMT)
Hm... is ACoA going to be hosting its own club day ? I'm keen! Not sure if i can make the CC event, low on $$.
Thunderbird2 - May 14, 2007 02:30 AM (GMT)
There is not enough demand for ACoA to host there own event at the moment. Another Ian Luff, perhaps, but with Wakefield events, we will partner with other clubs eg. MX5 club, Circuit Club.
Confirmed for Wakefield, June 11th:
- Storms Of Fate
- Thunderbird2
Mos - May 14, 2007 07:04 AM (GMT)
I can't confirm yet, but I'm extremely interested. I realise it's probable that I'll miss out, but I can't commit at this uncertain stage unfortunately.
The 11th is a reasonable deadline for at least getting a project driveable so we'll see how it goes. :)
Mos.
Thunderbird2 - May 23, 2007 01:44 AM (GMT)
Update - now confirmed:
- Sendog and Friends!

I will split this off into a seperate topic when i / someone else get's time!
We will also have a cruise on the Sunday June 10th for new members and our VIC visitors. Probably a south run (it will be a long weekend, so we need to take this into account). New topic for this when i / someone else get's time!
greeneyes - May 23, 2007 02:22 AM (GMT)
