Title: Suspension Height

greeneyes - September 30, 2006 10:15 AM (GMT)
These are what i measured at Taupo the other day- I averaged left/right sides if the car was not on level ground, although flyboy's was the only one on a noticeable slope..

They are in mm, measured from the ground to the highest part of the wheel arch. You can see the red cars of Camel, Greeneyes, & Jasestu in my post here-

http://forum.altezzaclub.org.au/index.php?...post&p=10090172

camel19 633 front, 630 rear
greeneyes 628 front, 628 rear
jasestu 642 front, 632 rear
blacktez 647 front, 638 rear
altezza girl 639 front, 640 rear
flyboy69 625 front, 628 rear

Interesting! After reading this I went out with a tape measure to have a look and I got the following:

FL 618 / FR 629
RL 623 / RR 618

Car was on a bit of a slope though (driveway).

greeneyes - October 1, 2006 05:16 AM (GMT)
Yes, all the ones I measured varied left and right by 5 to 10mm. i assume it is to do with road camber and trying to level the car.

A left-hand-drive car leans the wrong way terribly just driving down a straight road.

I just averaged the pairs.

I think you're right. Has anybody put their cars on a weighbridge or any other weighing mechanism? I'm curious to know how much these things weigh on the road.

greeneyes - October 1, 2006 09:28 AM (GMT)
Years ago we did a pair-

1360kg

Noel - October 9, 2006 12:08 AM (GMT)
After reading these heights I'm depressed...... :(

front on mine averaged at 656mm and the back slightly higher at 658mm with a half tank of fuel.

must get some lowering springs fast ;)

As for weight my car was weighted twice in the last 8months while getting it's cert and came in as .....

1st = 1443kg

2nd= 1449kg

now I'm wondering if it was weighted with the tester inside it as it seems alot heavier than what greeneyes posted?

BTW .... It's a 2000 RS200Z tiptronic.

greeneyes - October 9, 2006 02:37 AM (GMT)
Greeneyes was at that height before I fitted the Konis Noel.

They dropped it 28mm. I'm going to raise the rear 12mm when I get some spare time-

Well, we met at the Transfer Station and the man on the gate was fine! He weighed Greeneyes at 1340kg and the Hoon at 1360kg. Aaron said he had more than a half-tank of gas and some stuff in the boot. So if Matt can take his IS300 down to the Transfer Station, and someone take an AS200 Altezza we can get them all. :)

..and I had to go back to nzlexusownersclub to find it!!

My car is pretty much the same as your car Keith.

FL 629 / FR 624
RL 630 / RR 625

Car was sitting on pretty level ground.

Averages out to be 627 on rear and 626 on front :)

Can be adjusted out on coilovers anyway.

What about these springs???

HKS springs

any good?....

can't afford coil-overs :(

alimac - January 6, 2007 07:31 AM (GMT)
anyone know anything about these springs?

Jamex springs
?

Is 40 mm a bit low for practical driving? I was thinking more along the lines of 25-30, but the price is good if the quality is ok?

Spanky69r - January 6, 2007 09:41 PM (GMT)
personally id neva buy jamex springs
40mm isnt that low for normal driving, it wont be bad

Al, are you thinking of lowering? I am looking at this at the mo. Just a spring kit and pos install them myself...keen to compare notes when you decide to buy.

greeneyes - January 7, 2007 01:09 AM (GMT)
Ask him how stiff they are. Get some figures and look at the the spring stiffness forum.

You may find they have to be really stiff to not bottom out when so low, and then the stock shocks wont be able to control them.

Jase - January 7, 2007 05:23 AM (GMT)
when i had the tanabe CVS springs over stock shocks, i would bottom out quite often going over speed bumps. The rates i recall are F5.6 and R6.4, or a bit lower.

After I put the tanabe shocks in, I havn't bottom out, as the shocks were shorter.

So yeaa, get something stiff to sacrifice comfort to safe your shocks, or sacrifice your money for more comfort by buy shock and springs combos :)

alimac - January 7, 2007 06:53 AM (GMT)
Just looking at options on a family budget (mortgage etc), so wanting to see what is possiblethat I can afford without compromising safety

sutzee - January 20, 2007 05:52 AM (GMT)
Heres mine.

Front: 625mm

Rear: 620mm

and thats with no sounds in the boot.

toyotamad - January 27, 2007 07:21 AM (GMT)
I put new springs and shocks in just before christmas, used tein springs and bilstein shocks.

Before- R/F- 655mm L/F- 660mm
R/R- 660mm L/R- 665mm

After- R/F- 630mm L/F- 630mm
R/R- 635mm L/R-635mm

Handles like its on rails awesome upgrade.
Cost $2900.00 installed. Hurt but worth it.

xnickx - January 27, 2007 07:24 AM (GMT)
Wow thats quite a fair bit, better then Adjustibles?
Cause they are around the $2000 mark too.
Might have to kindly ask you take me for a drive at the Auckland Meet haha.

(and I'll show all others my phantom Speedo Beep...)

toyotamad - January 27, 2007 07:29 AM (GMT)
I had a couple of radius control arms replaced at the same time that swallowed a couple of hundred.

RS200NZ - March 1, 2007 08:05 PM (GMT)
"How low can you go!!!!" Interesting thread. I'm gonna have to measure my Tezz tonight. I really wonder how low it is. Where are you guys measuring from?

demptt - October 28, 2007 02:50 AM (GMT)
Hey does anyone know the standard altezza height, I'm looking at putting mine back to factory.

lowred - October 28, 2007 06:50 AM (GMT)
Here's mines,

Front 618mm

Rear 621mm

greeneyes - October 28, 2007 07:04 AM (GMT)
Up around 655 I think-

It will be in here somewhere

Nzaltezza32 - July 27, 2009 03:44 AM (GMT)
Hey i was wondering if anyone would care to give me some feedback on what they think is the best choice in lowering springs, my gf just bought a 99 altezza pretty much stock standard, besides k & y struts leaves the car about 10mm lower than standard. adjustables are a bit to expensive, and i dont want to get them compressed as the handling would be shit, any ideas on good set of springs? heard jamex are not the go, cheers

Spoon - July 27, 2009 07:49 AM (GMT)
Get a decent brand. I paid a couple of hundred for my Tein springs, and they're great. Came with a set of Altezza shocks, so I have a spare set now too.

jdm.racing - July 27, 2009 08:29 AM (GMT)
i just measured mine and its sitting 610mm front and rear

stock wheels and pedders extreme XA coilovers :D
