Title: Is250 Replacement Bulb
dafidav - March 20, 2007 04:44 AM (GMT)
i want something whiter and stronger
people have told me PIAA bulbs are the best, can anyone point me in the right direction?
are the lexus bulbs H11?
cheers
xnickx - March 20, 2007 12:21 PM (GMT)
Correct, the low beam is H11, unless you got the HID option, that would make them D4S.
High beams are 9005 (HB3) and Foglights are 9006 (HB4).
A quick search on google came up with this page:
http://www.eautoworks.com/html/bulbSearch-1-LEXUS-IS250.htmEnjoy! There are all the references to all types of bulbs for the IS250.

thanks
will be upgrading the low beam, hi beam, and fog light bulb

xnickx - March 20, 2007 12:32 PM (GMT)
If you cant go with HIDs, PIAA would be best (and expensive)

Thanks Nick...yes I am in Sydney.
Dafidav, I have PIAAs for low, high, fogs, parkers and indicators up front and reverse lamp. They are much whiter than standard bulbs. I have a few left. PM me if you are interested.
The HB bulbs are 4700K.

Any developements on the bulb replacements?
dafidav - April 8, 2007 09:02 AM (GMT)
im saving up for HID kits

Are the PIAA bulbs that expensive? I would have though they would have still been a lot cheaper than a HID kit.
When I looked for my IS200 I couldn't find anything good under $700 and that was just for the low-beams.

PIAA bulbs costs a little less than HID bulbs, and HID bulbs are expensive.
I just bought Phillips BlueVision for low beam to try, if they are ok, i might save the money and stick with it.
dafidav - April 10, 2007 02:00 PM (GMT)
bulbs would cost about $80
i can get XD HID kit for $500 delivered
its gonna take a while to save but ill get there rofl
Art - April 10, 2007 10:44 PM (GMT)
Is that for low beams only though?

Don't know if you know but last time i enquired aftermarket HIDs will void your warranty.
That and there is a problem with auto on/off of the lights.
Which bulbs are $80?
xnickx - April 11, 2007 09:59 PM (GMT)
Xenon bulbs are avalible in NZ for as low as about $20 a pair :o

An after-market HID kit would more than certainly void your new car warranty as it has to be wired into the cars wiring system.
If you were going to void your warranty doing something like that why would you opt for a cheap set. I would be looking at getting the best one I could get my hands to ensure nothing went wrong.
ldc - April 12, 2007 02:29 AM (GMT)
Agreed, i would get it done professionally and would an expensive KIT.
dafidav - April 13, 2007 03:28 AM (GMT)
who said the XD kit wasnt a good kit?
i've been following the threads on Club Lexus USA and a lot of people are happy with their XD kit
as far as warranty goes, from my understanding, aftermarket kit will only void the electrical component of the warranty, not the entire warranty, eg. engine problems will still be fixed

That's right, it will void the electical component of the warranty.
So consider the fact that you are more likely to have problems with the electricals rather than the engine on an IS250, you would want to make sure the HID installation was done properly in the first place but hey everyone's different.

I would double check with the actual service department/technician as to the partial void of warranty. Cannot assume that's it safe because they are in the business to blame, not to take blame.
Let me know the result.

Quality HID replacement kits are "plug and play" requiring no cutting/splicing to wiring looms. Should you have any problems, simply unplug it, remove the ballasts and return it to OEM specs for warranty claims.

The Oz dollar is high against USD at the moment. Now is a good time to buy if you want it.
I just try replacing my low beam and it seems i got it mixed up with 9005, they are H11s and Phillips sells H11 for $105 which i didnt buy.
Maybe Hids are worth it then...
dafidav - April 23, 2007 07:52 AM (GMT)
yea the AUD was like 0.83 i think, i was shocked when i saw it
hahaha
ldc - April 24, 2007 12:47 AM (GMT)
Even at that rate, i recon you're looking at $AU450+ to get the kit shipped to you door.
