LEX-71C - May 24, 2007 04:57 AM (GMT)
i got my car back from service today.. and when i was checking through my car.. now my left front speakers dont work...so now i need to find out what is going on there.. worked perfectly before i gave my car to them.. also.. the dolce centre piece on my front right rim now spins around.. it is ment to be stable and not move.. so i have to take it to the rims place tommorrow to see whats the go there.. cant these mechanics fix what is wrong and not break what is fine and working
DR-JEKL - May 24, 2007 06:44 AM (GMT)
Jeez thats weird, what did you have it booked in for?!!?
If it was just a routine serviced I would be pissed off!
They probably didn't know how to get the centrepiece of your Dolce rims and reefed it off, hence why it spins around now <_<

If Glen is still the service manager there, you should speak to him directly (his office is to the right of the service reception desk). I used to always deal with him, and i always had the extra details i requested looked after.
Been over a year since i've been there though. I get much better and more affordable service at ISMR! This is the problem with dealerships - you've got every chance of having some inexperienced apprentice working, rather than one of the guys who has been working with them for years. Invariably, the older the model, the further down the chain you will be, so to speak. You'll get great service if you trade up!
black200 - May 25, 2007 12:49 AM (GMT)
speak to lexus about it mate
they understand finnicyness and i'm sure they will look after you. If any other brand they'd probably turn you away but becuase its lexus you should be ok
LEX-71C - May 25, 2007 10:14 AM (GMT)
i have spoken to all the people that i need to.. they claim they didnt no how to take it off and they claim no damage was done...i showed the guy who came and picked up my car how to take off the centre peice properly he said no worries.. i even lift them a sticky note on my steering wheel...they are such duds.. and it is annoying i pay top dollar for a routine service and this happens.. i went to payless tryes chullora today where i got them from and they dont think they can order new centre pieces..but they are going to try.. they said that who ever did this treated the centre piece with no care and just reefed it off...
thanks for your feed back guys

I know what it's like LEX-71C. I purchased my car there and had it serviced there until my last one. Each time I got the car back there had to be something wrong...be it, scuffed rims, scratched rear bumper, scuffed front spoiler. The rims were my worst experience. All 5 (incl spare) were scratched! Lexus did agree to have them replaced....since these are the IS300 rims, I had a long wait for them.
Now with the aftermarket rims, I wasn't keen on going back just for the courtesy car and Lexus stamp. Last service at ISMR couldn't have been smoother! Only thing they missed was a stamp in the service book....I had to drop by again :P
Service is due again soon....I know where I'm taking it again this time :D
LEX-71C - May 25, 2007 11:25 PM (GMT)

How many Km service was yours Matt? I'm going there in a couple of weeks for my 90K service.
LEX-71C you should try them out, they do a good job. Ask for Chris or Indy :D .
MYIS300 - May 26, 2007 07:07 AM (GMT)
That was my 110K service - Gota love my long trips to work racking up my K's!
I think Lexus specifies 110K's are a minor but I always get the equivilant to a Major at ISMR, I want all fluids replaced at each service (Engine, Gear Box, Diff & Brake Fluid) I'm picky
I change the engine oil myself every 5K & leave the rest to ISMR at every 10K
black200 - May 26, 2007 07:52 AM (GMT)
ends up costing about the same as a lexus minor anyway :P
LXTASY - May 26, 2007 11:57 AM (GMT)
i got my 100,000km service coming up next week. im going to have a darn good chat to them too. i think they perposely do shit so you have to pay to get it fixed!lol. my central locking was fine till i got my first service at lexus, then i took it back and they re-programmed the key. second service i got there, 2 weeks later the central locking stuffed up once again!
i took it in and said "hey whats the go here? everytime i get a service 2 weeks later my central locking doesnt work!!!" all they said was "yeah the IS200's have had a problem with that in the past" and now that my warrenty doesnt exist they expect ME to pay $400 for the new part so the keys can pick up the sensor under the steering wheel!!! i think its bullshit specially when its a problem that has occured throughout lexus. they should at least pay half if its a common fault by lexus. does anyone else think that???

Exactly! i didnt want to publise that but yeah
black200 - May 26, 2007 04:05 PM (GMT)
doesnt sound normal to me, if you still have warranty it should be warranted end of story. Maybe try another dealership
probably works out cheaper than lexus. But the reason they charge so much is to get the money back filling up the petrol tank and chaning the tyres on the loan car after it has been borrowed
iS_w3z - June 1, 2007 12:51 AM (GMT)
Well I reckon lexus has the best courtesy program such as car washes etc and the loan car RX350 ( haha i use the whole tank of fuel before i give it back to them, I'm with Chatswood Lexus By the way). Well Sydney City Lexus has a crap environment and service I have to say. Went there in 03' to look at cars not the brightest of places but man was it big. Chatswood lexus definently did way better (thus #1 dealership in Australia) so maybe you could try Chatswood/McCarroll next time I recomend it.
pgauke - June 1, 2007 12:58 AM (GMT)
I agree with the above.... however i get mine serviced at Parramatta they are also very good.
smnt - September 26, 2007 08:04 AM (GMT)
Sorry Lextic but i must beg to differ.
Just last week i had a service with Sydney City Lexus and they were great, kept me updated all the way through & if changes parts needed to be changed they called me.
Droped of the car & they gave me a loan car for the night.
Came back to the car and it was cleaned in & out.
Even gave a box of chocolates to say thanks. :)
All in all i was very happy with the customer service.
LEX-71C - September 27, 2007 01:41 AM (GMT)
i never said there service wasnt good... but i question how they look after your car.. when it has rims and aftermarket things done to it.... if your car is stock then there should be no issues.. but once they see aftermarket things on your car.. i feel they take less care of it..

I think you've hit the nail on the proverbial head here. As soon as I began modifying my car, I no longer went to Sydney City Lexus either. Sure, the courtesy car, box of chocolates and bottle of filtered water were nice. But once we put it up on the hoist at ISMR, we discovered they had never changed the gearbox or diff oil after I had specifically asked for this on the two prior services I had there.
Basically, the older your car gets, the less attention they are likely to pay to it. Dedicated drivers who require additional work/service on their car are not usually catered for. For this, you need to be attending driving a more specialist marque to get the awesome and long term dealership support. Marque's like Porsche, Lotus, etc, where you hear how dealerships actively retain mechanics with knowledge on all of their cars, not just the current models. Lexus want you to keep coming back, but they want the new courtesy cars they are giving you to entice you to upgrade.
James, all the ISMR details are in the VIP membership area of the forum. Specifically:

Hi all,
Last week took my car to Lexus of Parramatta for it's 90,000KM service.
This is the second time I have used them to service my car (first time around was for 80,000Km service when I bought the car)
From day one I have been impressed with the service and feed back from the staff there.
They really look after you, tell you exactly what they have done to the car, always come back to the car fully detailed, find Lexus tissues in the glove box and the car running real damn good!
On my last service they gave me an is250 "loan car" for the day with only 72KM's on it! (they probably want me to upgrade, but ill keep my is200 any day over an is250!!)
All in all, very happy with the service they perform and the customer service they provide, would happily recommend them to anyone!
:D
smnt - January 22, 2008 11:02 AM (GMT)
good to hear, how much did they charge for a 90k service? I also did mine last week and was priced at $350.

Just curious, what did you find bad about the IS250 that has persuaded you against 'upgrading'?
smnt - January 22, 2008 11:10 PM (GMT)
only thing that put me off was the steering wheel, it's not candy to the eye like the 200/300 but i do like the seats, omg they are very comfortable and believe they sit a tad lower. =P
Ads200 - January 23, 2008 06:15 AM (GMT)
I'm not going to say how much as I think I get a very good deal from them - and yes it was cheaper than $350-
The is250 - seems to be noisier, the roofline is too low - you feel boxed in, dash looks cheap, not as smooth as my 200... i could keep going on but I won't - not for me!
SfS - January 23, 2008 10:09 AM (GMT)
The interior's in the 250s are much smaller then 200s/300s and yeh for us tall blokes no head room :D
The back seats are pretty darn crampy too. I could also mention mor ebut I don't want to turn people off lol.
But they are a good performer :)
black200 - January 23, 2008 02:14 PM (GMT)
couldn't agree more, lexus at parra are awsome. I dealt with peter the most and he looked after me well!
iS_w3z - January 23, 2008 10:18 PM (GMT)
man 350 bucks thats all? chatswood charged me 590 :S for a standard service. Might give parra a go next time. does 350 include the loan car or you have to drop off your car?
IS2J - January 27, 2008 06:47 AM (GMT)
for 350 id be pretty sure no loan car included, pretty cheap for lexus
SfS - January 27, 2008 08:01 AM (GMT)
Guys Lexus of Parra is the best, you should all bring your cars there :P ;)

Do I hear a ripping sound?? :P
A)- Ask you local Toyota dealer. Its only a cheap Toyota with leather seats FGS!
B )- Ask any other local garage that does servicing, even a mobile mechanic!
C)- Do it yourself! Anyone can change the oil and filter, which is probably all they will do! The jobs to do are written in the handbook usually, and they are mainly just checking things.

Give ISMR a call for a quote. They'll stamp your service book also. Will not void your warranty.

I've never had a problem in all these years with them, I've had a problem once with Chatswood and never went back.
Speaking of which, my car is booked in for Friday, 140kkms service, estimate cost if nothing breaks is $935.
*sigh, there goes my zorst
