Title: Altezzaclub Offset Guide
Description: check it here
black200 - May 28, 2007 12:19 PM (GMT)

i've made a guide up quickly
one thing i forgot to add, is taht you pretty much won't fit anything larger than 8.5 on the front, and that is a stretch.
Especially if they're heavy wheels, you will flog out your tyres, bushes, power steering pump and wheel alignment 10x faster than if you keep within factory spec.
9" will fit on the rear as far as i know, but again your bushes, tyres, fuel economy, PERFORMANCE and your differeential (along with the rest of the drivetrain) WILL suffer. Not if, but WHEN
let me know if changes are required
black200 - May 28, 2007 12:23 PM (GMT)
also, these are conservative figures.
17" offset specs are spot on.
18" offset you can take 3-4mm away from that figure max
19" offset you can take 5mm away from that figure max
IS_SHIVY - May 28, 2007 01:19 PM (GMT)
your a star!
thank you mr black200.
someone should sticky this, and get people to put up their measurements and pix (similar to what greeneyes had with the spring chart floating around)

Want to pop up a photo of how to measure it??
Straight-edge and ruler.. ?
SenDog - May 28, 2007 11:04 PM (GMT)
Awesome guide Charlie, top work!
Just as a note, I had 16x7 on the front with +30 offset and had some scrubbing issues, if I got another set, i'd be looking at +35 or so, if not slightly more
black200 - May 28, 2007 11:54 PM (GMT)
i have 7.5 with a +30 shaun with no scrubbing issues at all....
scrub with semi slicks?
Also greeneyes, i don't know how to measure it, i know that most wheels these days comes with the offset quoted on the wheel itself! If you have a photo on how post up then! :D
greeneyes - May 29, 2007 12:30 AM (GMT)
OK, good ol' Google-
Here are the wheel numbers, the easiest way to find out-

Here's the offset explanation-

and here's a touch more on backspace...
hare - May 29, 2007 12:06 PM (GMT)
it's really helpful,thanks man.
I am not really understand about the lowest offset,do you mean it can't be lower than that number right?but how about the highest offset and not touching the guard?
DR-JEKL - May 29, 2007 12:12 PM (GMT)
Nice work mate!
I guess you should also add, that this guide on offsets is based on use stock fenders, no shaving rolling etc
Cheers ;)
FJstan - July 11, 2007 01:38 PM (GMT)
Thanks for all the tips.... I will be getting new rims from tempe tyres
I have chosen the Lenso Wide Track Shadow Chrome / Mirror Polished Dish.
http://www.tempetyres.com.au/products_clos...t=&part_no=1055 I have read majority of the blog and have been fascinated with all the advise given.

black200,
Ok so Im looking at some wheels, your guide doesnt have 19x9.5 offset?
Or would I be best to stick with just 19x8.5?
(was thinking 8.5 front and 9.5 rear)
Offsets are avalible in +35 and +45 for both.
Not soo clued up with the whole Min offset etc.
So if Im to go with the 19x8.5, would 45+ work?
Or would I be looking at removing some inner front gaurds and rolling at the rear?
Cheers
DR-JEKL - September 5, 2007 08:54 AM (GMT)
To run a 9.5" rim on the rear you need a +55 offset.
A 8.5" rim on the front is getting a bit too 'full sick bro' on a daily driver which I presume yours is!
A safer setup is a 8" F +42 and 8.5 +45 ish rear or 9" rear +50
xnickx - September 5, 2007 09:43 AM (GMT)
Thanks JEKL,
The mags are only avalible in the two options:
19x8.5 +35 and +45
19x9.5 +35 and +45
What are my options to change to offset for the fronts? (machining?)
Cheers

Well if you have to have those rims (sounds like they are Jap rims?) obviously pick the +45's
To run a 9.5" with a +45 offset you will have to stretch your rubber on, and run like a 225/35, you definately wont be able to run a fat 265 tyre on the rear without serious mods, such as pumping your guards. Plus your tyres will stick out a bit also, so the ol boys in blue can give you a hard time (well if you lived in Australia)
Running a 8.5" rim up front with a +45 can be done, but obviously you will need to get the heat gun out and massage the plastic guard lining with something like a baseball bat, and shave or roll your rear fenders.
What rims are you looking @?

I'm running 18 x 8.5 with +45 in the front with no rubbing at all but with no lowering either ....... yet ;)
Show us pics of what you looking at buying Nick :)
black200 - September 5, 2007 02:33 PM (GMT)
i honestly think that if you're going to go lower that 8.5 is too much for the front to handle. Fender rubbing is no problem, its tyre rub on the sway bar or coilover assembly that might cause the problems
i'd go 7.5 max if i was you nick!
xnickx - September 5, 2007 07:17 PM (GMT)
Oh damn thanks for all the response!
The mags Im looking at is the DTM Shine:

However the smallest they come in is 19x8.5, with the P45 offset.
Damn the search shall continue than, looks like these wont fit.
And yes I was going to keep my coilovers and keep it at a pretty low(ish) ride height.
Thanks again team!
hxc_blade - September 5, 2007 10:55 PM (GMT)
Hey, i got 18 x 7.5 rims, no idea on the offset, tyres are 225s...
Tell me, if i really lowered the car, would it clear the guards? or would i have to roll them?
black200 - September 6, 2007 02:24 AM (GMT)
i have 225's on 7.5's and my car is low, only get scrub on really hard corners on uneven roads

I am planning to take the Coilover route further down the track and love the wheels I currently have so what's your suggesstion if i was to keep them Charlie :) ?
Some deep dish on them wheels Nick ;)

What's with the DTM center cap? Is that a genuine AXIS wheel?
AXIS Shine
b_fit - September 10, 2007 02:40 PM (GMT)
I want to get a set of 16" rims, i read that 16x7 min offset is 24, if I get the offset 50, will that fit, or is it too much?
xnickx - September 10, 2007 07:50 PM (GMT)
Axis wheels are badged as DTM here in NZ, all come out of the same factory.
mikeynz - September 22, 2007 05:11 AM (GMT)
Bugggger, I just brough the mags that Nick was talking about, and got told they would fit lol guess I will find out when they are fitted ...
TNT200 - April 10, 2008 03:58 AM (GMT)
Hi, could you guys please help me to sort out the size of tyre and offset if i like to stick with the rim 18".
Front rim:18 x 7.5 what is the offset and what size for the tyre 215 or 225x35 or 40
Rear rim:18 x 8.5 what is the offset and tyre size 225 x 35 or 40
OR would i just go for the same size front and rear rims as 18 x 7.5 + offset??
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
black200 - April 10, 2008 04:11 AM (GMT)
7.5"x17 - 225/35 front +30
8.5"x17 - 245/35 rear +35
guide needs some updating. You can go more aggressive offsets on the front by about -6 and rear by about -15 to -20 more offset
E910 - May 26, 2008 08:44 AM (GMT)
I'm currently looking at purchasing a set of TOM'S 18x7.5" +30 for my Altezza.
What are the maximum tyre widths you would recommend? I was thinking 225/40 front as that's what the IS250 Sports run & possibly the same on the rear but if I could go a little wider I would for that little bit extra traction.
BIGW - June 18, 2008 05:04 AM (GMT)
I had a 225/30/20 on a 20 x 7.5" rims with a 45 offset.
Guards rolled, lowered 50mm never scrubbed even on full lock with a car full of big bastards.
DR-JEKL - June 18, 2008 05:29 AM (GMT)
where r the pics of the IS250 with 20's BIGW? :)

225/40 is good but you have to becareful as different manufacturers the 225 rating may be wider or narrower (falken tend to be narrower)

My 17" TE37's I recently purchased are pretty much exactly these offsets except the rear is +40 8.5.
The rubber is kinda tired, I'm thinking I should possibly buy sum new tyres for the track rims in a few months time (providing I have the cash I'm stone broke atm!)
I noticed federal do a semi slick (595RS) in a 215/45 and a 225/45 for the fronts (mounted on a 7.5" rim) and for the rear a meaty 235/40 is available.
What setup would be most appropriate? would it be more sensible to just run a 215/45 F and a 225/45 R setup? Or go for a meaty 225/45 F & 235/40 Rear?

Hello everyone
I've been looking at a set of wheels 17x8 with +40 offset. The person at the mag shop where I'm looking to buy says they'll fit my ride (no mods to suspension). However every other place I rang for a second opinion won't say for sure. I'm taking the car in for a trial fit soon but don't know what to look for. Comment please?
I see in the guide above +40 should fit comfortably, is that with a fully loaded car? Just need to know if I'm on a road trip with four other people in the car that, it's not going to cause problems later on.
iS_w3z - July 7, 2008 06:27 AM (GMT)
+ 40 will fit no problems at all with a lite load or a full load
black200 - July 7, 2008 07:39 AM (GMT)
Great advice from someone with little to zero wheel experience wez :P
fully loaded you will probably get some scrub, and as always depends on the tyre sizing. i'd recommend 215/45 all round, 225 might give you some problems. Overall, it will be fine :)

i only learn from the best :P, my mind is filled with 17x7.5 +30 is perfect offset or 17x8 +30 ftw :P

Yea 215/45 was what I was planning to get. Found this online which might be useful:

can fit, but definitely not a good idea. You will lack heaps of grip and more chance of denting you rims on potholes etc
