I didn't even know Is350's existed until this forum.
Anyone got pics of one or is it basically like an Is300 over and Is200?
cookie - September 6, 2007 12:58 PM (GMT)
The IS350 is basically the same as the new IS250. The biggest difference is the IS350 has a 3.5litre V6 which puts out around 235Kw at the flywheel. Pretty much the same motor as in the Toyota Aurion but with Direct Port Injection.
The IS350 is supposed to be for sale on our shores early to mid 2008 according to a mate of mine in Toyota.

Hope he is right we know the IS-F is coming next year but the price gap between the 250 and IS-F is too great
Lexus needs the 350 too compete with BMW etc.
They have alot of models and engine sizes to suite everyone.
I'm eagley waiting for the 350 to come to australia.
BMW seems to sell what ever comes out so why not the same with lexus selling more engines sizes.

Just called Lexus they said pretty sure they wont be gettigng IS350..... and the ISF will come out End of next year.... ..
I CANT wait that long... omg omg~!!!!
Really hope the guy is wrong :( lolzz

Yeah, from all the information that i received the IS350 will NOT be coming to Aus.
And yes, the ISF will be here mid next year...
Expect to see it priced between $120k and $140k, however i suspect that it will be far closer to the $140k mark....
So who is going to be the first on these forums to own one????

Maybe my sources are wrong, I will have to speak to him again and see whats going on. If it doesn't come to Oz then I appologise if I got anyone's hopes up.
I just wish the Japanese drivers would start crashing them as this is the motor I want to put in my IS200.
As for the IS-F, I am definately going to get one as soon as that stupid Lotto machine spits out the right numbers.

I don't think Lexus bring them in. It's a used import
ldc - October 17, 2007 03:52 AM (GMT)
Lexus doesnt need the 350 to compete with BMW, the 250 is the 325 competitor (not 320). I fill if anything Lexus needs to intro coupes and convertibles in IS range, just to give people more choices.
The IS-F is there to run with the M3 so no need for any other performance IS.

after driving both, i have to say that the 250 and 3 series are similar in shape but that is it. The 250's are nice cars but cannot compete with higher end bmws. The fit, finish and materials of the interior is superior, as is the motor, transmission and suspension.
value for money the lexus does win though
ldc - October 17, 2007 04:29 AM (GMT)
I have no idea what you are talking about when u say the fit, finish and material used in BMW is superior. Have you not noticed the hard and ordinary seats in the BMWs which can only be classified as fake leather? Are they both cooled and heated?
As for the other things, the dash, dials and electrics in the BMW, are not even on par with the new Corolla.
How could you even think it's superior in finish is beyond me. Pls re-assess your thoughts before spilling, to prevent making a fool of yourself.

And as for the motor and tranny.
i think you're also wrong here. I am a partime valet attendant and i floored/drive all bmws and lexus there is under the sun, let me assure you that the e90 4 cyl is worst than my previous Corolla SX's, it painfully weak and has no smoothness in the gears what's so ever.
The 6 cyl are better than the 4, but it too arent smooth in the gear change and it lags!!!!.
Here are the interiors (how on earth can u say BMW is supperior?)

...and just to help shoot you down in flames, I drove the wallowing understeering 5 series BMW before I bought my Altezza.. Nowhere near as sharp in the handling!
black200 - October 17, 2007 03:24 PM (GMT)
ouch haha sorry didnt mean to strike a nerve
i've driven and lived with both, and i can tell you the bmw is better in every aspect. But that is my taste, obviously yours is varied to mine :)

tip: never ask a salesperson if any new product is coming out if it hasn't been publicised. They will just want you to buy what they have now and make you regret it when the thing you want comes out.

does the is350 come in manual form ?
( not that ill be buying an is250/350 anytime )
ldc - October 18, 2007 12:12 AM (GMT)
From what i heard, they don't offer manual in the 350 in the US to date but are an option in the 2008+ range i think, not sure about in Japan or here (if they will bring it over).

I'm not sure if they would bring the IS350 in the same year they release the IS-F
iS_w3z - October 18, 2007 01:22 AM (GMT)
yeh it does come in manual, manual has the proper hand brake and the auto had a foot brake
black200 - October 18, 2007 04:00 AM (GMT)
is350 will be expensive.
bmw 330i range!
Art - October 19, 2007 02:11 AM (GMT)
The 330 has been superseeded by the 335 which is priced around the 130K mark which is around the price for the IS-F.
I would think the IS350 if it was ever relased here in Oz would probably be around the 100K and you would assume the price for the IS250 would come down a bit.
