Title: Aftermarket Hid

BIGW - May 13, 2008 05:23 AM (GMT)
Gday guys just chasing an aftermarket kit for my 06 Prestige.

Have seen a few kits around which vary in price, just seeing if anyone has installed any in their 250.

Kits ive seen which look alright are Enon & MTEC

Comments suggestions?

Cheers,

Jon.

i've got the mtec hid's in atm and i reckon their pretty good.

however one of the bulbs recently blew and it took forever to get a replacement from the US.

i could suggest mu secret gt hids & are a lifetime warrenty. =)

BIGW - May 13, 2008 05:53 AM (GMT)
Is this on your 200 or have you bought a 250?

smnt - May 13, 2008 06:03 AM (GMT)
oh you've got a 250.

i've got these hids on my 200.

BIGW - May 13, 2008 06:55 AM (GMT)
Ah no worries,

Was really after a direct comparison.

But thanks mate.

smnt - May 13, 2008 09:09 AM (GMT)
well should be even sexier as you've got projectors & if you pop hid's over it..

my mate has them in his jdm celica projectors and its a stunner!

FYI - i'd stay away from the hid kits from carmate.

DR-JEKL - May 13, 2008 11:41 AM (GMT)
What's happening with the IS250 these days anyway?

You mentioned you were getting a set of 20's slapped on, and the stez will be upgraded..???

Pics?!??!

get oem lexus kit (DENSO HID) off ebay/hidexpert.com they are genuine toyota/lexus items :) and are rebased to your fitment with OEM 4300K for the D2R/D2S kit or 4800K for the D4S or the D4R kit. you will need S series bulbs because its a projector type headlight. at 30o odd AUD landed for a OEM kit you can't go wrong. what is you bulb size anyway?

Recieved this kit off w3z and loving it. Recommended.

But i have heard that MTEC are good as well.
There are a few on Ebay if i remember.

Sorry mate, that made little to no sense to me.

Are you saying its $30 for an OEM ballast/ignitghter & globe?

Cheers,

Dr-Jekyl, car is just lowered atm

I hope to have the wheels come beginning of next month

Stereo is a work in progress, just doing some glassing on the few hours i have free.

Got a billet grill & a lip spoiler comming from the states so it should all come together.

the denso HID kit is around $350 landed in aus.. its a complete plug and play kit with everything you need.. i have them in my is300 fogs.. they match the head light perfectly

BIGW - May 14, 2008 05:55 AM (GMT)
Guys im after IS250 SPECIFIC kits, not kits that you have in the 200/300

Moreso wanting to hear from anyone who has a kit in their 250, there are hundreds of theads abotu HID in 200/300's

Cheers,

Jon.

black200 - May 14, 2008 07:03 AM (GMT)
so you're after an HID kit for your IS200? or 250?

haha i'm sorry mate i really dont have anything to contribute to this thread :D Check the IS300 forums perhaps? Just get a cheap ollo kit from ebay, mine have been going strong about a year

BIGW - May 15, 2008 03:15 AM (GMT)
thanks charlie,

I just wanted to check out a bit more because, some of the ads say no error message ect. so thats why i just wanted guys who had them on their 250's which there doesnt seem to be too many of them....

smnt - May 15, 2008 03:25 AM (GMT)
shouldn't come up with an error. your only changing the bulb. you've already got a ballast in the headlight.

BIGW - May 15, 2008 03:57 AM (GMT)
my car is not equipped with HID hence why im installing a kit.

iS_w3z - May 15, 2008 04:01 AM (GMT)
well whats the watt rating of your bulb 55w? because almost all are rated at 35w. but yeh i know for a fact that later toyota or lexus use the denso d4r/d4s series hid kits. just checked and there just under 340AUD delivered. i had a problem with installing hid kits on later bmw as well as they have a headlight failure warning because the HID kit wasn't drawing enough power. but yeh sometimes adding a relay to a 35w kit can help

BIGW - May 15, 2008 06:37 AM (GMT)
thats mate!

So can you point me in the direction of the oem ballasts for $30?

almost sounds too goo to be true! As below i just bought a kit but OEM would be preferred. ta

i just ordered a kit its not a big drama for me to install a relay if i get a warning, I had a look on some US forums and they guys have said just wiring straight to the headlight wiring has not yet caused any dramas. Might be because the 250 is optioned with HID dunno, but ill let you guys know if i run into any dramas.

Billet grill should be here in abotu 5 days time hopefully.

I think that was meant to be $300.

iS_w3z - May 15, 2008 02:38 PM (GMT)
well look up DENSO HID on ebay and tick the international column and it will pop up. thing is what bulb size are you? these are rated at 4800K so its pure white light. but yeh seen a lot of IS250 with aftermarket hid's running around so hopefully its an easy install.

BIGW - May 15, 2008 10:38 PM (GMT)
ive got an h11 globe,

Yeah not to fussed about the install, just was after a tried and tested kit, so ill let you know how it goes.

Thanks for the heads up mate!

BIGW - May 19, 2008 01:48 AM (GMT)
Ok guys kit rocked up today, might give the install a crack at lunch.

Will let you know how i go.

BIGW - May 20, 2008 05:16 AM (GMT)
ok kits in works perfectly, all plug and play, no errors ect.

Just make sure you disconnect your battery while you do the installation otherwise you will get a check ESC error, because you need to unclip a sensor to get the airbox out.

Did a couple of things that shit me also, turned off the seatbelt alarm (no, not so i can drive arouns without a seat belt) open gates at night drive up driveway listening to beeping shits me.

also when i go to open the car now all doors open not just the drivers.

Will get some pics on the weekend when shes clean.

Carlsson lip arrived today will drop it to get a coat of jam tonight.

Might even be on the car this weekend.

Hanging to see what the billet grill looks like.

we are using za automotive hid's in all our cars and also i have sold a fair few to most of the evo guys very easy to install and are very good units.

they are $250 but are very well made and have never had any problems with them and i have been using mine for over a year.

Otherwise i am bringing some other branded hid's in and they are $200

from the group buy i did on the evo forums i also sold a set to a member on here as part of that group buy. with all the details on the HID here
