Title: Delete Kinway As Sponsor?

greeneyes - July 22, 2008 01:25 AM (GMT)
Just seeing what people think....

xnickx - July 22, 2008 02:04 AM (GMT)
Does look bad for the club having Ken as a sponsor who can't even be contacted!

That's true. You can compare him to the other sponsors who are much more active and helpfull too.

Distrb - July 22, 2008 03:51 AM (GMT)
Remove him as a sponsor, and then disable his account so he cannot log in (and it ties up his email address too) and then blacklist any other email addresses he is known to use so he cant ever sign up to the board ever again.

Remove him makes club look bad

d3gnarts3 - July 22, 2008 05:35 AM (GMT)
Maybe someone that he ripped off found out where he lives ;)

Spoon - July 22, 2008 07:05 AM (GMT)
We're better off without him. If we kicked him, then theoretically we'd do a little bit more business through forty-one etc, and they'd give us better deals. Good theory anyway.

xnickx - July 22, 2008 07:33 AM (GMT)
Belive the people has spoken!

MightyTeza - July 22, 2008 07:55 AM (GMT)
That is why i dont like dealing that way.

ThunderChicken - July 22, 2008 08:00 AM (GMT)
Wow that's quite a consensus...

jeremyflower - July 22, 2008 09:16 AM (GMT)
Well I've had no dealings with this guy personally but there seems very little point to me in keeping him as a sponsor of this site unless we're still getting money from him for the privilege.

How does sponsorship work? A one off payment or regular continuous payments?

Both, some pay a fixed fee, some pay a percentage.

If no-one is getting anything out of him he should be removed, otherwise it's not really hurting anyone having him in the list, other than possible bad press from someone outside of the club being burnt (in which case they'll have read all the abuse directed at Ken through the various posts anyway).

No-one on this site is ever going to trust him now anyway so I suppose there's little point in continuing to advertise for him.

My 2 cents anyway...

Hey I got a shortshifter off him probably 5 months ago... went reasonably well... a wee bit of hesitation - but i dont like to hear of fellow club members getting the run around - cash is harder to come by these days and we need to be able to trust the people we deal with!
And, of course, as everyone else has said it looks bad for the club supporting such a person/company who is not willing to be supportive of our interests - if that makes sense!

LEX-71C - July 22, 2008 12:33 PM (GMT)
just kick him out lol.. what is he going to do.. he prob doesnt even check up our forum any more.. plus he never admits his wrong any way..so there is never going to be improve ment...

i say just delete him from the forum and dont tell him lol

turbo tezza - July 22, 2008 01:07 PM (GMT)
I bought some items off him end of last year - took a while to get the items that were in stock - over a month.
Communication wasn't very good, asked for tracking numbers and they never came through.
Dealing with Ken wasn't too bad but having had a few deals through mac at 41, there is no comparison really. Mac is a credit to himself and the club - really good to deal with.
I wish Ken was the same........

IS1000 - July 22, 2008 01:14 PM (GMT)
He has tryied to shaft Reg, Matt and myself a set of lights by blaming the freight company. I wont get into it but a few others have had issues with him as well..

Ken did have some good products its unfortunely he is not trustworthy. Its not like he is close by where someone can just go grab it or check up on him. And now the fact that his shop has been closed and is now a jewelry shop just goes to show no-one is getting there money or parts.

I say if the above mentioned Sponsors can supply the same parts at a reasonable cost why would you risk using someone like Ken

Stephen - July 22, 2008 01:35 PM (GMT)
Keith, I was actually considering closing off Kinway's thread as there have been too many reported issues about this company from members here and on other forums around the globe.

I believe I can speak on behalf of the Australian members and have this removed/closed.

greeneyes - July 22, 2008 10:55 PM (GMT)
Ok, I haven't voted in this, but its pretty clear.

I will reorganise the forums.

andy - July 23, 2008 04:24 AM (GMT)
Hmmm, I've dealt with him once before for a pair of dark chrome taillights.

The only problem I had with him was communication. Beside from that, the products and prices were really good.

But since there has been so many negative transactions with him by others I guess it would be better for the club to delete him as a sponsor as well.

andy - July 23, 2008 04:35 AM (GMT)
Hey, has anyone tried to contact kinway, within the last month or so?

I just googled him, on the IS250 forums and Celica forums, he seems to be notorious for siezing communication, but after some time he will be ok to contact again. it seems to be the general consensus that he is pretty credible by quite alot of other forum members.

Just wondering, you guys who had the truoble with him, have you received your parts/sorted it out?

IS1000 - July 23, 2008 09:05 AM (GMT)
Andy, did you read the link I posted? Howcould you say this guy is credible.

His shop is now closed down and is a Jewelry shop and he has not be able to be contacted for months and owes dozens of ppl ALOT of money/parts.

This guy has been kicked off other forums as well. Doesnt matter if he has lost his business or decided to shut up shop. Its not hard to log onto a computer and say to all the people Im sorry Iwill refund you money.

Some of the guys have been waiting 6 months and even more. You cant tell me thats good business or a good trader.

Noel - July 23, 2008 10:10 AM (GMT)
He was on the Irish site as well (Tezzaworld) but last we heard he had shut up shop and gone to help with the china earthquake appeal.... (take that with a pinch of salt <_< )....

I never bought anything of him but did query prices for the Dark rear lights and found his emails to be very pushy.... totally put me off buying anything from him...

There's a few Irish members waiting for stuff as well

andy - July 24, 2008 01:27 AM (GMT)
Hey Brett

I didn't mean to say I thought he was credible, but rather, just reading alot of posts regarding him on other forums, it was the general consensus on those forums by alot of the forum members that he is credible however he is known to sieze contact for periods of time.

But in saying that. I have a read of your thread and I agree that does seem pretty dodgy of him. I can only relay to everyone my experience with him, which was pleasant but communication was a real issue.

Regardless, it seems that he has dissapeared from the face of this forum anyway!

IS1000 - July 24, 2008 09:08 AM (GMT)
Apparently from what has been found out, Ken was never a TRD dealer but his Brother was and he was selling from his name. Read the thread and it will explain it a lot better than I am trying to.

jeremyflower - July 24, 2008 09:26 AM (GMT)
So isn't he gone now anyway?

Yes, although I left him as a member

andy - July 25, 2008 07:26 AM (GMT)
Oh wow, really?

So Kinway is legit (assuming that is his brother) but Ken is dodge.

I wonder if his brother knows!

I'll have a google at the thread now!
