I'll second that - any1 got any comments - I noticed mine has started to do it .....

I have the same problem, and no matter how many times I get Toyota to look at it while its in for servicing, it still comes back squeaky!!!! <_<

xnickx - November 3, 2008 09:54 AM (GMT)
Firstly always use graphite power and take apart the linkage, rub it all into all the moving parts and all parts that touch something else on the whole linkage assembly, did that once and its never come back

I have the same problem... So annoying.

E910 - November 4, 2008 07:01 AM (GMT)
Me to :( , might try some graphite powder then.

matronic - November 4, 2008 09:32 AM (GMT)
spray some wd40 or crc on the clutch pedal

E910 - November 4, 2008 07:54 PM (GMT)
On mine its not the pedal thats squeaky. The noise is coming from the slave cylinder area on the gear box.
Had the same problem on my last toyota(Levin BZ-G) as well. Tried every spray lube & grease I could lay my hands on but to no avail.

Big Ant - November 5, 2008 06:56 AM (GMT)
I have had this problem in the past

Try using silicon spray on the area

You may have to do it every couple of months but it does work

MightyTeza - November 6, 2008 05:56 AM (GMT)
Had this on my previous tezza but mostly came when cold. On hot days it was fine but never bothered spraying it, put on some loud music and sqeeking was gone rofl

noooo. i got this problem again.
*start engine* *eek eek ekk ekk ekk*
*step on clutch* ...all normal
*let go* *ekk ekk ekke kk ekk*
argh pmo.

apparently the mechs at my workplace said it good be some thrust bearing? or something. the actual part itself only cost about $50.... but the labour won't be so low.

hope it can be fix some other way, than changing the thing.

Mine squeeks when I press the clutch pedal, dont think its the clutch but rather something to do with the arm or slave cylinder :(

greeneyes - December 10, 2008 10:35 AM (GMT)
Sounds like two problems-

The clutch pedal pivot, which squeaks when the pedal is pushed down or sometimes when let up. Quiet all the rest of the time. This you can probably solve yourself.

The thrust bearing beside the clutch plate, which squeaks when the clutch pedal is up (no load on the bearing) but goes quiet when the pedal is pushed down and the bearing is under load. Here the bearing is liable to be replaced by some enthusiastic mechanic, whch means taking the whole gearbox out! Although it looks like is_b had it solved from outside the bell-housing. E910 has this problem.

Kenshinnguyen - December 10, 2008 11:52 AM (GMT)
ahhhh damn sounds like its going to cost $$$$$$$$

should i just live with the noise..

Leiden - December 10, 2008 08:37 PM (GMT)
Looks like mine is just the clutch pedal pivot, and probably the most livable, and least expensive of the two :)

Damn. That sounds like mine.

What happens if I don't replace it? Is it like a CV joint and it could last forever, but it could explode tomorrow leaving me clutchless?

How much would I be looking at to replace it? I assume next to nothing for the bearing, and several hundred for labour?

ThunderChicken - December 11, 2008 07:59 AM (GMT)
Will replacing the bearing fix this? I Have heard that the squeaky thrust bearing is a by-product of the design and will always happen (could be miss-remembering here...)

Ditto @spoon

How much for a new bearing? Can ya help out Nick? (sorry no idea on the part number)

Edit:

After using the oh so 'helpful' search button at the top....

Seems that its due to the thrust bearing resting on the pressure plate and thus producing the rattle/squeak, looks like greasing or oiling the bearing has worked for some people.

Can anyone elaborate on this?

Cheers

hrmm after asking 5 mechanics.. this is what i got.

squeaky noise is because of the thrust bearing. gotta drop the gearbox to change the bearing. labour = $200-$300 (backyard job).

the bearing is about $50(for me coz i work for a toyota dealer get discount).

all 5 mechanis told me, its better to change the clutch and the bearing in one go. better than getting charge for the labour twice.
and also machine the flywheel if your not getting new ones (around$60)

so guys how much is the normal clutch kit, and how much is the trd one?
thinking of changing the whole thing.

....there goes my boxing day shopping spreeeeee.

It's a common problem, though I suspect not one that is easy to solve cheaply.

HOT2XS - December 13, 2008 07:35 AM (GMT)
I also have this problem. Though it only seems to squeek when I start the car in the morning and sometimes when I am reversing into the garage when I get home for the day. When I am driving and change gear there is no squeek. E910, my last Toyota was also a BZ-G Levin :-), and it had the same problem. Replaced the clutch and the squeek was gone. I have a new Exedy clutch and flywheel ready to go into my Altezza soonish :-) Have been quoted around $350 to do the install.
