Hi all,

When I bought the lex just over 2 yrs ago I got the 80K service done here. Everything seemed ok....

Then at 90K also got the service done there where they told me the water pump was leaking. I could not see no leaks so I kept topping up the coolant every so often only in the reserve bottle not the radiator.

At 100,000 kms also got the service done there and once again was told the water pump was leaking but I kept just topping up the reserve bottle thinking at 110K or 120K when I change the timing belts I'll do the water pump then.

I assumed Lexus Parra would have pressure tested the radiator / cooling system and would have come up with this result - WRONG !!!

Car is nearly at 110K so I had a mate who works on diesel trucks take a look, we did a pressure test last night for nearly half hour and no leaks at all!

The coolant all over my engine was from me filling up the reserve bottle to the top! So it was overflowing - the hose lets the excess coolant out just above one of the fan blades! Hence why after everytime I topped it up, I'd have coolant everywhere.

Just to make double sure, I went and visited my uncles gas conversions shop this morning and pressure tested it again - and to confirm it - no leaks!

I am quite disappointed with Lexus - I would assume they would have pressure tested the car on both occassions - but I am 99.9% sure they didn't.

Well they have lost my business that's for sure, I will never take my car there or any other Lex dealer. Just waiting from Indy @ IS for a price to do the belts and service... also hearing back from another place - Powertune, have been recommended by many ppl to them - see how we go!

No more BOHICA (Bend over, here it comes again) from Lexus - just looking at reciepts, those 3 services cost me close to $2200 - well not anymore!


Is it worth me calling Lex ? If they offered me a discount service I wouldn't take it.... but they can offer me free parts :P

Very happy with Powertune, went and saw them today, discussed everything about my car what needed to be done etc, showed me around his workshop - was very impressed and also within a few hrs I had a complete quote e-mailed to me.

I'm still waiting on Indy from IS to get back to me (called him over a week ago...)



I'll be booking the car in next week at Powertune - will let you all know how I go!
