Title: G'day - Stew From Newcastle

Toy77 - March 21, 2009 08:13 AM (GMT)
G'day all,

A mate of mine (yojimbo on here) has a 2j is200, and put me onto this site when i said i was looking for an is200 for my missus.

I have a 1jzgte powered 77 celica in the build, and am into 4x4 (have a patrol) and moto's as well (have a CBR fireblade).

Anyways it was time to upgrade the missus rav4 to something a bit nicer. this is what we bought.

99 is200 sport luxury
Legana Kit
Akuza 19in rims

First upgrade will be the stereo as it is already having dramas, so i will be after some specific info soon. Have read heaps on it so far... but still have a few questions..

Hope to catch you guys round
Cheers
Stew

Welcome in Stew.

Nice colour ;) Nice Kit ... What other mods you got planned other than the stereo.

Car looks to be lowered as well

Toy77 - March 21, 2009 09:22 AM (GMT)
Hey,

Yeah it was for sale on car sales. thats where we found it - looked alot nicer in real life than in his pics on the add.

I does have pedders sports stickers on the front struts - so may be lowered.

Dont have a huge amount of plans for it at this point - the missus is entering it out at the toyota nationals in april, so will have it in the show as well as the motokhana.

It came with another rear muffler that that the previous owner had removed (a bit to loud for him) and bronnie wants it on the car now - so i will be fitting that this week i spose.

i would perhaps consider a beams conversion for this after my car is sorted. i dont really want to go too wild with this one- its aim is to be a sexy cruiser/drive car for the next few years. But if it follows the way of the rest of my toys i wont be able to help myself - dont seem to be able to resist the urge to change things.

Cheers
Stew

IS200-Winnie - March 21, 2009 12:28 PM (GMT)
Congrats on the purchase good to see a fellow novacastrian with a IS200! Im in Wagga atm so I cant cruize with ya but nice pickup, not to different to mine cept i have a carbon bonnet, driftek wheels and tein pro flex.

You say you know Brownie, brownie who?

Toy77 - March 21, 2009 12:31 PM (GMT)
Hey mate,

I wanted that altezza that was for sale in SA - it looked almost identical to yours....
but there was some rego issues for me.

Wagga sucks - i spent time there in the army...

My girlfriends name is "bronnie" for bronwyn not brownie.

You get back to Newy much?

Cheers
Stew

IS200-Winnie - March 21, 2009 12:45 PM (GMT)
lol it is my car :D brought it of the guy karl sold it to. Yea every now and then

Toy77 - March 21, 2009 12:47 PM (GMT)
i thought yours was an is200?

this was a genuine altezza - 3sge etc - same colour, carbon bonnet, 18in black rims. the guys name was ricky.

I thought yours came from the NT - was it the one for sale on toymods???

Cheers
Stew

IS200-Winnie - March 21, 2009 12:48 PM (GMT)
lol Im also in the RAAF what did you do there kapooka or aeronautics? What rego issues? the fact you cant register a car with a CF bonnet and 9" wide wheels lol

The wheels are sorted managed to get hold of some nice sort of stock OZ racing/Lexus wheels and the bonnet is hopefully on its way... and the car is unregistered

IS200-Winnie - March 21, 2009 12:53 PM (GMT)
Yea i am that guy from toymods and I know who i am speaking with now lol, yea it did come from NT but 6months b4 that it came from SA.

Very nice ride none the less.

Toy77 - March 21, 2009 12:56 PM (GMT)
actually just found the car for sale one here

http://z4.invisionfree.com/lexusaltezzaclu...?showtopic=8008

I was down at kapooka doing basic training for the army.

The rego issues had to do with the way it was complianced - i dont doubt i could have got it regoed here (nsw is harder than some other states, apparently vic and sa are a bit dodgy - according to the nsw rta tech dept.) - but how legit and easy (carbon fibre bonnet) and already have enough toys that are a pain to deal with.

But i do like the white alot, grey was second choice after not being able to find one with decent kms for the right price...

IS200-Winnie - March 21, 2009 01:02 PM (GMT)
Yea I stumbled on one of the best examples fortunately. All log books details right through to 125,000k and it had every single piece of kit i needed after the conversion to a JZ series engine wich means I get to do the fun stuff myself.

Enjoy the car, I know you secretly brought it for yourself lol

IS200-Winnie - March 21, 2009 01:04 PM (GMT)
Swap you lol, I didnt get the leather and suede but it gets to be a pain in the arse later on in life. The interior is immaculate anyway.

Fark finally a a fellow forum member from Newcastle!!!!!

I swear I never see any modified IS2/300's in newwy other then one green IS200 with airbags and konigs which looks shite...

What plans do u have for your stez mate?

iS_w3z - March 22, 2009 09:53 AM (GMT)
stew i've heard rumours of a company bringing in superchargers and what not for the engine. and on a note with the 3sge engine your better off going straight to 1jz just because of the bang for your buck. haha (but i'd grab a ITB 3sge anyday)

Toy77 - March 22, 2009 09:54 AM (GMT)
hahahha,

there are lots of crap looking modified cars in newy!!!!

as for the stezz - nothing too extreme, dvd head deck, an amp or 2 depending on layout and a sub or 2.

the girl wont want me taking over all her space so its about optimising....

Cheers
Stew

Yeah that is true, just seems to be a heap more modified Lexus's in Sydney compared to newwy for some reason...

How much $ are you going to throw into the stez? Are you keen on BFYB equipment or high end gear? Are you chasing SQL or SPL?

Hmm the bootspace in these cars are shithouse compared to similar sized jap cars such as an accord etc you may want to go with a moulded sub box to maximise space and mount the amps onto the back of the seats.

Toy77 - March 23, 2009 08:39 AM (GMT)
Heya,

Basically bang for my buck.... based around good sound, with a decent bit of thump.

i grabbed a head deck today - pioneer dvd, screen etc. has adjustable colours of the few buttons it has as well as the background. so will match nicely with the dash. and has a great menu for the ipod control which was a big factor for me.

http://www.pioneer.com.au/Products/Car%20E...20P4050DVD.aspx

got it alot cheaper than recomended retail though

also grabbed a 4 channel amp - kicker. i have had a kicker amp in my celica for 8 years before swapping it into my 4x4 where it is still flogging its little heart out - only driving 1 15in ppi sub now but has driven 2 of those subs for the last 6 years or so.....

I was hoping to fit both amps (havent bought th 2nd amp yet for the subs) under each of the seats. The passenger seat will be a breeze but no go with the drivers seat..... so i guess that one will end up in the boot.

im looking at a JL (W3 i think...) sub.

Cheers
Stew
