nutezza - May 6, 2009 10:09 AM (GMT)
Hey guys, came across a really short antenna(could be about 4 inches long) on an Altezza while searching on the net few weeks back, have you ever seen any Antenna shorter than the JDM antenna? it looked really nice on the the car, would be interested in one if it can be located.

I think I saw it on the altezza Hong Kong site.......again, cant be too sure

Yeah I've seen them before, guy was selling them on Trademe for a while.

They're really awesome, unless you actually want to recieve radio stations in which case they're worse than useless.

If all you want is aesthetics and you only ever use cds/tapes/mds/mp3s then they're absolutely perfect :-)

Saito - May 6, 2009 11:56 AM (GMT)
How are the JDM ones then? Are the reception on those good?

Stephen - May 6, 2009 12:17 PM (GMT)
This is the 3 inch antenna I have. I'm happy with the reception with this one. Was purchased this back in 2003 :) A straight swap.

PS. I wasn't driving and taking photos at the same time :P

Do you find the reception the same?

Main question...can you pick up 96.1FM? Thats a hard station to get sometimes...only good reception can get it...

I'll give that station a try and let you know.

Curiosity got the better of me.....I just went into the garage to try 96.1 FM. Yes, I can pick it up even with the car inside. I've now set that frequency....had some funky music on there...sounded like it had more bass than other stations. :woot:

I'll go through my emails and see if I still have their details.

I remember them selling them on Ebay ages ago....The stubby antennas is what was on the description..

Found a chrome one...

Stephen - July 25, 2009 02:09 PM (GMT)
I managed to locate the receipt for the antenna seller. I purchased mine from here.

I have the 3.54" version.

Saito - October 20, 2009 02:50 AM (GMT)
OK, i got my antenna stolen and looking for a new one.

I have checked the seller that Stephen has posted and yeah it looks nice.
But also for some reason i love the toyota JDM one. Where can i get one of these? I saw some on Ebay but not sure if they are gunuine? Just says on the description toyota JDM.

Any suggestions?

xnickx - October 20, 2009 03:17 AM (GMT)
I can do 2 types:

1) Genuine Toyota (86309-53010)
RRP - $111.14 + GST ($125.03 after tax for NZers)
VIP - $71.11 + GST ($80.00 after tax for NZers)

2) Aftermarket Aerial (same length as above, not genuine)
RRP - $53.33 + GST ($65.00 after tax for NZers)
VIP - $32.00 + GST ($36.00 after tax for NZers)

NewZealanda - October 20, 2009 03:51 AM (GMT)
You know what would be so much better.... If we just got Digital Radio in NZ :)

Stephen - October 20, 2009 11:10 AM (GMT)
I need to check, but may have a new JDM Altezza antenna available.

Also available is the same Toyota antenna (same length & shape as JDM) in flat black colour which is slightly cheaper.

Saito - October 20, 2009 08:43 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the replies Nick and Stephen.

I thought that the JDM one was shorter then the stock one?

xnickx - October 20, 2009 09:01 PM (GMT)
Yes that's correct, the part number I supplied above is for the JDM Short Antenna

Saito - October 21, 2009 08:24 AM (GMT)
Does someone have a pic of the JDM short antenna in action? lol

xnickx - October 21, 2009 08:49 AM (GMT)
Look at the 4th post above at NewZealanda's signature, you can see the short antenna there

Stephen - October 22, 2009 12:42 PM (GMT)
These are the ones available. This photo should help clarify the JDM Toyota antenna. I have a tape measure to show the length.

This is my latest purchase. A JDM antenna. It is shorter than the OEM and improves the looks I believe.

That's the flat black version in the comparison photo above.

dimis - November 20, 2009 06:09 PM (GMT)
