Title: Powder Coating Wheels

oriphin - May 18, 2009 01:30 AM (GMT)
Hey guys,

Picked up Shanes Advans on friday, fitted them and they look sweet... But had to get new tyres, worse yet the old tyres had fused to the paint so a fair bit of the lips of the rims look rooted now,

So anyone know any good powder coaters in northern beaches area?

Pics to come (im still 4wding so dont laugh! )

HAHA yeh it was a bumpy ride to nelson bay, decided to get some there didnt want to crash on the way to syd lol! i was copping some major bump steer so i had to drive realy careful.

Got some 215/45s for the front and 235/45s for the rear (didnt have a big selection at JAX tyres in nelson bay :P) they are BF goodridge, cant remeber the model but the ride now is super smooth.

$820 for 4 tyre fit balance and 4 wheel alinement so they were fair expensive lol buy yeh i can go through a roundabout at 70 now ;) HA!

Looks realy tough now, my little step brother (3 years old) thinks its a race car now ;) i caught him hugging it!!!

That suck Nick, wonder where i can find someone to do it, would probly need a daily service to hmm... it can wait though, im surprised it how much the white kinda goes with the silver, deffinatly a track car look with that and the 5zigen pipe

Not to mention the 4wd hight!

Shane could fit a whole hand under the rear guard!

What do you think about this (i know i know... not coil overs!):

Bf Goodrich are fkn ace tyres man nice choice :)

Let me know what the model of the BF's are. Is it scrubbing with the BF's?

As for powdercoaters there was a thread on this forum somewhere... I can recall Wez got his work meister rims painted by someone and they came out really good!

I had a blast yesterday (literally) water blasting your oem rims.Fark they were caked in brake dust :D

What price did you get on the hotchkiss kit delivered?

The drop on those springs are only like 1-1.5" by memory... not worth it imo.

Save up for some coilovers.

The sways are some of the best, but springs are meh, your shocks may not last the distance, I would grab some coilovers man and wynd them waaaayy down ;)

Ah sweet yeh i checked they are BF Goodrich g-Force™ Sports

Only scrubbed once going about 60 or so and there was a dip in the road, this it was the fronts that scrubbed but yeh done about 350km since i put em on and scrubbed once so im happy

Yeh i dont think the insides of those were ever cleaned! the pads i have right now generate soo much brake dust its crazy! cant wait to swap them over (Advans are already covered in the crap)

I cleaned off all the dust on the outside that morning as well lol!

not sure on the hotchkiss deliver etc yet, it will have to come in a few weeks time (maybe when i get tax back as im expecting to be getting 2k+) So yeh might just get coilovers ill see when the time comes round ;)

I cant drop it to much, then ill need the gards rolled lol! The advans literaly stick out a few mm ;)

Got so many plans lol, i realy eed to find a sponser or something LOL!

EDIT: What would i be looking at for a set of good coilovers? i dont want a shit ride ;)

I spray this on my front wheels and works a treat

Wheel Protectant

From what I understand its like a teflon coating on the wheels and the brake dust basically slips off the wheel. After a weeks driving my rims look quite clean :)

If you want comfort over performance just go with a koni spring and shock combo or a set of Tein CS coilovers.
