Hey, I'm up for two new tyres & was all set to get some Dunlop SP Sport Maxx then discovered I can get Bridgestone Potenza RE001 Adrenalin for about $30-40 a tyre cheaper. Basically I want to know if anyone out there is running either of these but in particular the RE001 on an Altezza/IS & what your thoughts on them are. Bridgestones have a bit of a bad rep for being noisy but from what I've read people are saying the RE001 isn't to bad.
Had a glowing review on the grip from the RE001 from a workmate who had 2nd hand pair on the back of his 200kW(ATW) S14. He's been through quite a few pairs on that thing in the last 6 months :burnout: He said they were far superior to anything else he's tried like DZ101, SP3000A etc etc.

I'm not really after recommendations for other tyres as I can get Dunlop/Goodyear & Bridgestone cheap through work as they're OE tyres on Ford & Mazda. (We're talking around the $200 mark)

The RE001 Adrenalins are highly recommended! all my mates with supras use them, i managed to get a deal for RE050s for half price (to make them the same as RE001s) and they are fantastic, but if i cant get the deal again ill def be using RE001s

I currently run the re001's on all four corners and so far have been great. They are quiet and grip well in the rain although can't compair them with re050 as I've never used them before.

Thought they were good, great in the rain,wear rate not so good.
Good street tyre, I'd use them again pending the price on ku36's or Eagle f1's.

Adrenelins are definately an awesome tyre, I know a couple guys using them on evos and they swear by them.

I have 2 RE001s on the front of my Tezza (the older G Grids on the rear till they run out of tread), going great, will def get these again. Not noisy at all. Although it would be hard to hear above my stereo anyway

I am a biased Bridgestone fan tho, disappointed every time I have tried other tyres! Out of interest how much can you get for - I paid $170 each for mine (on standard 17") which I understand is pretty cheap...

My first impressions from the RE001's are very good. Actually I'm pleasantly surprised. I haven't had this much grip in the wet since my Michelin Pilot Precedas on the AE111. They just grip & go. I haven't been able to make them "sustain loss of traction" as yet, but I will keep trying :lol: It's only been a few days.
I had Kumho Ecsta 712 on there previously & they were lots of fun in the wet but no grip what so ever. I had GIII's on my Levin. They're noisy & don't have much grip in the wet either so I was a bit unsure about going for Bridgestone again. Glad I did though.

I payed about the same as you through the work account. $170 is very cheap. Do you know someone who works at Firestone/Bridgestone to get that deal?

I run RE001's in the CTR as well :) I've found that theRE001's suffer a little bit when wet- this is comparing with German Eagle F1's though. On the other hand, they handle noticeably better than F1's in the dry, especially when pushing round corners.

The dudes at that aprticular firestone branch have done my tyres for me for the past 8 years now and they have always given me a sharp price... think they like it that I'm not a typical girl driver. This time I haggled some more tho cuz my husband tried to get me to go to Tony's where he got his set from, they undercut Firestone by $10 (after talking to Mgr), then I went back to Firestone cuz I prefer to go there and they undercut to $170.... with a few tears!!! Good to know it's near cost price then hehehe
