Title: Oil Gear Differential !
Description: Need help !!

Abcastillo - May 30, 2009 12:19 PM (GMT)
hello

I need help !!!

Now I'm looking a differential oil for my car.
But I found a very rare differential oil.
Motul, Motyl Gear
SAE 75W-90
Technosynthese
API GL-4, GL-5. MIL-L-21050.
http://www.motul.com.au/product_line_up/gear_box/gear09.html

1. What you think this products? it's will compatible with Torsen LSD ?

2. http://www.motul.com.au/product_line_up/gear_box/gear09.html
Compatibility All gearboxes without wet clutches & hypoid rear axles without LSD.
That means I cannot use this oil gear, because I have Torsen LSD?

3. I think that this product has two GL-4 and GL-5, but according to other forums altezzaclub, my.is. tezzaworld, They recommend me using 75W-90 GL-5 and 85w90 only ... But why this products has two tips: GL-4 and GL-5 together.

My Altezza:
Differential: A01B - 3.916 ratio Torsen LSD
Transmision: Autmatic

4. I have been researching on the internet, someone tells me it is GL-4 for manual transmission and the GL-5 for automatic transmission? Is this true or wrong?

5. Which are also products that are compliant to Torsen LSD>?

Thanks !!

DO NOT put lsd additives in your torsen LSD.

They are "friction modifiers" that give lubrication and still allow a friction type lsd to "grip".

You need a good quality gear oil. I reccomend Redline shockproof gear oil, in the correct weight, ( might need lightweight shockproof).

Friction modifiers will not actually do anything in a Torsen LSD, they're designed to work in a clutch type LSD.

Just stick with the Mobil1 & you'll be fine.

Besides, I thought someone had told me that if I have Torsen LSD, it was necessary to use addictive, but I knew it was not necessary to use addictive, because I was reading an information mobil 1, said that does not require use addictive. ^_^

QUOTE
Mobil 1 Synthetic Gear Lube LS 75W-90 contains special friction modifiers designed for limited slip-type differentials. In most applications, the addition of special LS (limited slip) additives is not required. For axles requiring the highest level of limited-slip performance, OEM specific LS additives can be added to this fluid.

So thank you for info :D

That mobil oil already contains friction modifiers.

Just put a good quality synthetic gear oil in it, like redline.

I have punished a number of toyota torsen diffs in a few differnt cars.

The only one that failed had friction modified oil in it.
