Title: New Pads?
zata40 - June 12, 2009 04:34 AM (GMT)
My brakes are making a graunchy sound, almost as though the pads aren't biting and they are slipping on the rotor.
Time for new pads? Bearing in mind I need to change the brake fluid also...

Take a peek at the rotors and run your finger around them, if you can feel deep grooves and marks then its definetley time for a new set of pads, and more than a good idea to get the rotors reskimmed at the same time, as having worn brake pads in service for too long often stuff the rotors as well. Just pays to check it out.

Time for new pads!
Don't just get the discs machined, check for the minimum thickness of the discs first, no point machining them if they are going to be below the minimum :(
Pads are cheap so no biggie Zane!

If your after genuine:
Front
RRP = $86.00+
VIPs = $60.20+
Rear
RRP = $82.00+
VIPs = $57.40+
Or if you want to go aftermarket, the part number for fronts is DB1395, rears DB1416. (Front are for the two piston calipers, not the AS200 single piston fronts)
I'm currently using Bendix GCT front pads for the road, no dust and so far no noise after 15,000kms! For the track I got EBC GreenStuff (Super dusty and noisy when cold!)

I agree with Nick in this one! i've just replaced my EBC green stuff (dusty as F**K) but these new Bendix GCT have hardly any dust what so ever!
oh and the bite is very similar but then again I don't brake hard.

I've been using EBC Greenstuff for many years and brake dust has been minimal ;)
