Title: Brake Problem
koz - June 12, 2009 09:45 PM (GMT)
Something feels really off with the brakes.
When braking the car pulls hard to the right. Even just touching the brake pedal the pull is noticeable. The pedal has also become very hard, and the brake comes on fast and hard.
Under straight heavy barking it pulls maybe 1.5-2 feet to the right.
What could have caused this? The car has been driven once in the last three weeks, just to get the warrant at that.
And this has progressed alot since thursday. It was managible but noticeable till yesterday morning, after that...
I remember this happening in my old man's landcruiser after rivercrossings and such, but that would sort itself out when the brakes dried off. Doubt the brakes on the altezza would get wet enough for that to happen.
Any ideas?

Sound like a calliper problem to me. I'd say one is seized, hence why you're pulling to one side. Best get it check asap.

unequal breaking resulting in the car being pulled to the right hand side.

could be a slider or piston sticking in the caliper

Any smell or noise when the brakes grab?
I'd be checking my brake pads, then making sure that the wheel spins freely when jacked off the ground at all four corners,
Also check there is fluid in the brake master cylinder resiviour and that the vacuume hose from the brake booster to the throttle body is still connected.

Here are a list of things to check.
Brake fluid
Caliper Pins (make sure they are greased and the caliper can slide (float) in order to adjust.
Check pads / rotors for uneven wear
Check that the pistons return into the caliper

Hey im new to the FORUM but i had the same problem i THINK. Have u changed your SHOCKS recently or anything? IF not better let PEDDERS suspension look at it you might need new SHOCKS. Mine was gooing left or right depends on the HUMP or ROAD but after the NEW KYB shocks put in and wheel ALIGNMENT feels like a brand new car.

Hmmm... random 'caps lock' problem as well Dopey....
Koz once you have checked the physical setup in the front brakes then the next thing will be ABS I suppose. Let us know how you go.
I've come across a milder version of it that has been solved by swapping a pad from one side to the other...

Actually I recently had a mild version of this too!
Found my tire pressures uneven, one front wheel was about 16psi less then all the rest!
