Title: Newbie With As200
Description: went for as200 over rs200 too noisy :p
tikboy2007 - July 28, 2009 08:59 AM (GMT)
hi all have spent a great deal of time enjoying reading posts in here. recently bought 2000 as200 done just over 50Ks. i know i went for the for 'mature' altezza as200 the reason being it suits my personality as being laid back no fuss no dramas kind of guy. i have to say though am happy with my purchase took a look at a lot of altezzas and although being a fuzzy person i am very very happy with the condition of the car, it looks and drives like new in fact! i decided to buy as thinking this is my last chance being we are now flooded with crap altezzas in NZ. worth every $15K i paid for her, car is really mint in and out!
anyway i think for crusing around you should definitely get as200 auto
it is a sin to buy rs200 auto you should get the manual(shooting myself in the foot here

AS200 is a really slow 4 speed auto so cruising around is all it's capable of doing :P
Did you test drive an RS200 5AT? i test drove both manual and the auto RS and for a daily driver the RS200 auto is perfect.... ;)
anyway glad your happy :)

Good choice! The AS200 is a much more civilised car around town, while the RS200 only shines on a country trip. The RS200 is very buzzy and short of initial torque for traffic work.
Now that my son has a job he's talking of replacing the free Daewoo he was given, and his choice came up as BMW or Subaru. Strange I thought, 5minutes on Google showed that an IS200 made more power than a Liberty here.
...and that was before a supercharger kit or a 1J fitment! I think an AS200 can be made into a smooth but quick car fairly easily, 150KW with more torque than the RS shouldn't be hard.

heya
Noel - /did test drive rs200 auto found it to be on the noisy side lol i know i know however what i wanted was a daily cruiser that looked great and is on the stealth side.
caveman - would love to join however have got kids that i look after on weekends :( so it would be very very difficult to say the least
will sort out the payment for vip membership though looking forward to goodies
anyway am an old fart when it comes to cars all i really care about is cruising
would have to say though looking at tezzas around here made my dick hard hahaha

My mrs has an EJ25 powered Legacy Outback auto & its a land barge. I've never driven anything so slow in all my life. 0-100 must take about 15-20 seconds LOL

Noisy? When I've got the windows up in my manual RS200 it's very quiet & I've got a Kakimoto exhaust as well. Was driving from Greenlane to Grey Lynn via the motorway today talking to the mrs on the ph & she didn't even know I was driving, said it sounded that quiet in the background.
Oh well lets hope we don't see you asking how to make the 1GFE faster in the near future then aye :P Enjoy the new car.
tikboy2007 - July 29, 2009 07:38 AM (GMT)
yeah drove manual rs200 once was really quiet however auto ones i found are noisy - just my personal opinion though - i suppose when i want a pocket rocket i use my mrs golf v5 - they are really nice to drive!
greeneyes - July 29, 2009 08:59 AM (GMT)
The RS are really buzzy, more than noisy. The difference was quite noticeable when I was looking, just like the power... :P
tikboy2007 - July 29, 2009 09:41 AM (GMT)
lol ;p maybe should have gone for 03 rs200 but it was $22.5K oh well could drop new motor with that kinda money - guess am granny driver lol
Noel - July 29, 2009 10:22 PM (GMT)
Did you consider an IS300? auto/ refined and a bit of poke... i'd have bought one of these in a flash but road tax on 3lt over here is 2,311.19 AUD (1345 euro) per annum :(
anyway welcome and put up some pic's :)
tikboy2007 - July 29, 2009 10:42 PM (GMT)
ouch...no did not quite rare here unless you wanna go for gita but stationwagons not my cup of tea, although having said that we did use to own a 99 Odyssey which are just butt ugly(sorry if 've offended anyone if i have then you shouldn't be here anyway :P )
