Hi All,

One of my headlights blew tonight so I thought i would take this chance to get a HID Kit for the car. I know there are heaps on ebay but i just need a little help to make sure i get the right one.

Is anyone able to assist?(straight answers would be great)

Thanks in advance

Yes there are heaps of brands out there, and also ratings as well. Legally the ones around the 8000k are about as high as you can go, and they have a slight blueish glow. The lumen rating is what really counts though when it comes to actual distance and coverage the light will project. Unfortunately most of the cheaper lights don't actually specify their lumen rating. I have got a cheaper set and they are great. XNickX also has a set that wasn't that expensive and he swears by them. Anyway check these out:

There is also a place in Auckland called JONVY Audio and Accessories (think that's the name). They sell the Autogauge brand HID's, which may be slightly better quality but are dearer at $149.00 (last time I was there).

A guy was also selling PHILIPS brand HID's on TradeMe a while back at $199.00.

The bottom line though is for $99.50 (the first set I have listed), you can't really go wrong. It's dearer to replace one bulb than that

Note: When you install them (which is easy as, just plugs and no actual wiring), check the colour of the wires in the plug which connects to the factory Altezza harness/plug. A lot of us found that the colours were around the wrong way. Just have to pop the little metal end out and swap around. EASY :D

If people have information, they'll generally let you know. Nagging isn't going to help anyone...

I got the GT HID Kit about a year ago and they have been good so far. I got the HB4 (9006) 8000K(Bluish White) version. Here are a couple of places you can get them from:
