Title: Weird Lady Talking?

My friend recently bought a Altezza here in Syd. Its Auto tiptronic...
After driving it around and testing it...
He now gets some weird lady talking japanese when he starts the engine?
Hoping the NZ guys here can help or greeneyes?

Yep had that in mine, it was the (aftermarket) GPS unit.

My mate said that the Nav system is not connected in...

Its nav voice.
Need to either locate and remove the Nav fuse somewhere in the passengers side fuse block or
There is a mod required when the Nav system is removed, front drivers speaker don't work, the mod puts a couple of wire straps in to connect the speaker, this is done in the rear at the nav unit. This would bypass the nav unit and shut her up.
These are documented on the forum need to search throuht to find them.

Just take the CD Rom out of the sat nav in the boot.

OK guys i have another problem now..well he does..
After that lady talking, now the car doesn't start...OMG!!!
He tried buying a new battery and still nothing..
I think the car has issues! hahhahaa

Heard about someone down here yesterday that had the same issue. 2 days after he took the japanese GPS out his computer shut down. He had to Get Toyota out to read and reset the fault code.

It was the Sat Nav...
I told him it most likely would and also from your posts..He says that it has already been disconnected..HE LIED..All good now! hhaah
