Title: Aac Halo Invertor
Description: Replacement?
DR-JEKL - August 6, 2009 11:06 PM (GMT)
Aboslutely shat myself yesterday!
I started my car and had only driven 100 metres down the road when smoke lots of smoke started exiting the bonnet up near the windscreen and started entering the cabin via the air vents. The smoke was that pungent electrical scent....
The smoke was that thick I thought that I had an electrical fire on my hands, killed the engine jumped out of the car and found a fizzed power invertor on the passenger side headlight for the AAC halos.
I will try and get a new one under warranty by AAC (dont like my chances) but will a invertor from a generic ebay halo kit work?

WDF! that sounds pretty dodgy mate. I tried to hook my generic invertor to an AAC one and it won't fit.
In saying that if you're buying new invertors i'd like to purchase 2 please. :)

Yeah I'm going to ask wez for my money back :P
Bloody weird, I have had them in for over 12 months and like any halo equipped lexus I have em on whenever I drive the car :D
Will get a price on the invertors..
P.S why do you need them, didn't you install the ebay chinese halos?

hey the chinese ebay inverters (Lumenex) work on the AAC halos.
Just need to splice the AAC connector onto the Lumenex inverters and voila you're halos will be lighting up again!
I know cos I had to do it for mine

Ahh thanks for the info Alan!!
So you had a similiar issue with the smokeshow and all, or your halos just stopped working?

no smoke show, my inverters chose to go out with dignity...quietly and without fanfare.
I did get some electrical smoke smell once so I took it to an auto-electrician and he put all this heat shrink material around the wires and connectors so that might have helped.

interesting. well let me know if you guys need inverters. I can get them cheaper

I think from our experiences AAC halos are crap even though they do look better. the asian ones are more cost effective (the first set I sold are still working fine)

hey guys i also had the same problem!!
one of my halos stopped working all together so i unplugged all the wiries going to the halos and then one night driving home a smelt a electrical burning smell, pulled over and found the conector sparking! the whole conector was melted so i just ripped them out!
i also highly doubt that any waranty will still apply seeing how bad their customer service was last time

Oh Crap ... sorry to hear that Shane.
Anything one can do to avoid this or is it just luck <_<
iS_w3z - August 8, 2009 04:04 PM (GMT)
luck :S but at the moment only the AAC ones are sizzling :S
