Title: Looking Into New Suspension
Description: any advise

jtm_usa - August 9, 2009 11:32 AM (GMT)
hey guys, im thinking about possibly some new suspension; springs and shocks.
im keen to stiffen it up a bit , put the ride height to sit flush with the tyres and improve handling.
any recomendations?
and how much do you think ill end up paying for a decent 2nd hand or brand new set of 4?
ive had a look round and hks / tein look good , but theres so many different types and slightly worried bout prices too :P

hey ya,
first up find out what version of the suspension it is and do your research.

I have hks hypermax D series which are drift spec minus the top hat adjustment for camber etc. They do have 32 clicks adjustment for stiffness/softness which does change the feel of the car.

For normal street use these are hard/ bouncy no matter which setting and a little noisy.
It is getting to the point to be a little annoying because when you take passengers they are like "wow your car is bouncy etc etc". i just say its a drivers car and is great fun to drive.

It all depends what you use your car for and how many people regularly ride in it.

Don't forget you'll need a cert for adjustable suspension to keep your car legal for wof & insurance purposes. So budget another $400-500 on top of your coil over price.

JIMKRAZTEZA how are you finding that Tanabe set up you brought last month?

Bilstein Shocks + Tein Springs ;) This would be the best compromise of ride quality/NVH and improving looks and handling IMHO...

KYB dampers and TRD springs, the KYB's are a something like 25% stiffer than stock and the TRD springs will drop it 20-25mm all around

Had an Altezza at work with KYB's and it handled so much better, felt as comfortable and stock too.

So they ride quality is similar to standard then? What about ride height. Sit much lower?
