Description: Which Alarm System To Get..

DrUsTR - August 20, 2009 06:05 AM (GMT)
I'm looking to get an alarm system, but dont know what to get..... A whole new alarm system or just a factory upgrade....

I was thinking of getting a whole new alarm system, but I have been told that its better to get a factory upgrade.

What do you guys have ??
Which way to go....

I have a mongoose m80 series, 5 star. Tis pretty good. I never knew you could get a factory upgrade for the tezza

I'm a fan of dynatron

I just got a mongoose m60G (5 star), I wasn't to fussed about what the alarm could do
so long as it worked... but the key fobs are the best I have ever seen! metal chassis!

alarms not so sensitive that a car will set it off... well nicks didn't... but still bleeps at ya if
you give it a nudge.

AVS S5 here. Got it for a song. Does everything its supposed to & has plenty of extras I can add if I'll wish.
You're in Aussie right so not sure if half these alarms us kiwis have mentioned are available over there & you've probably got a much better/bigger selection than us.

Dynatron for me :) had 2 now and never had a problem with them.

i'd go for the one with remote engine start they are really convenient IMO :)

DrUsTR - August 20, 2009 10:34 PM (GMT)
Yeah i was thinking of the M60... and then wanted something with the remote engine start, but apparently they won't put it in my car as its a manual and they say that if i had it in gear and i remote started it, it would jump and wont stop until it hit something...

oh yeah btw im in Aust.

I was told that having put a aftermarket alarm in would muck around with the current system and would randomly set the alarm off. I've onli experienced this once in my 200sx where it would be parked in the garage then out of nowhere the alarm goes off...

One more question...

if I was to get an aftermarket alarm, would i still be able to remotely open my boot/trunk with the factory key without setting the alarm off ??

Rather than a going the new alarm route I put in a couple of strategically placed kill switches

I did have someone try to take my car when it was garaged and even with the keys in the ignition they still could not get it to start

I think you're going to run into trouble putting an alarm into a car that already has a factory set up. I'd be talking to an installer to see what your best options are. There maybe a straight forward piggyback set up or it may require disabling the factory alarm all together.

Something like this may work http://www.dynatron.co.nz/item_d4800-certi...em-upgrade_5699

I have a dynatron, had no issues with it. In my old Curren I had some issues with a dynatron, but I thinkt hat was more installer issue than alarm issue!

Yeah like i only have what came factory with the car, so keyless entry, not sure if its got immobiliser...

its just that im so use to hearing a beep when i turn the alarm on, that since i lock the car, there's no sound and i walk away and i'll be like Oh crap did i lock the car....

So a noob question....

What comes factory standard ? is it an alarm or just keyless entry feature ?

Dont know about you guys but id be hesitant advertising what alarms you have.

A good friend of mine posted that he was going on holidays for 4 weeks.

Had his 2 Honda SP2's and his Aprillia RSV Mille Stolen.

Thieves do read forums!

Just some friends advice :)

Thanks for the Heads Up...

Just wanted to get advice on either a factory upgrade or an aftermarket alarm...

Didn't mean to put anyone's rides in jeopardy.. **is that how you spell it ?**
