I actually wanted to post up in the for sale section to see if anyone wanted to swap boot lids with me. I don't want the spoiler!! But wondered if someone with a white tez wanted it and would swap lids. Surely would be easier than taking it off and welding up the holes.

Plans for the car.. well... lots.. but my mortgage takes up all my spare cash. :(

I'd really like to get 18 inch mags with low profile tyres. Looking at Avanti Medusa or Koya Oxygen mags.
It's low enough but would possibly change the springs.. it's a bit flighty with ppl in the back.
I'm wanting to put angel eyes (halo's) on the head lights too.
I've put a coby on the exhaust to quieten the hks big bore down.
Oh and been looking for the "other" grill. I don't like the one it has.

Would love to have it turbo but funds are a prob.

Also i'm a Lowndvs club member and girlspeed.

If you still want to get rid of the lid (i prefer the spoiler on myself).
Try PM-ing Joe_Joe he has a white one.
Or try the wreckers, but as you said the mortgage chews up most of your coin.

^_^ Were you in the waikato on the weekend ?. Saw a white Tez with a white banner across the screen.
Nice looking car

I was in Hamilton for the "peaceful park up protest" but not since.

My old tez didn't have the spoiler on it and i prefered it that way. And it means i can sit on the boot lol.. :)

OMG its the Boss.. look busy!

Welcome in!

You may find that new shocks will tie down the tail, rather than springs. How many Km has it done?

might look at new shocks.. done about 126000km.... i've done 14000km since january.. (when i got it)

>>>>>>>>>Latest prob just got fixed<<<<<<<<<
The exhaust was making the most horrible noise.. best described as a "flutter"... was told the exhaust manifold had come away from the gasket.. got a new gasket today.. $70 NZD to get part and attach.. Then he tells me it might not hold cause when it the bolts get tightened it causes the bit around the bolts to bend.. creating a gap... the bit that bent had a funny as name.. does that make sense? y does it do that..

grrr.... this car has cost me too much $$$$$$$$....

Umm... You've got to know most the answer before you ask the question.. :D

So, is this the exhaust manifold to head gasket?? They may distort on some cars due to engineering design or being on a turbo, but I haven't heard of a problem on Altezzas.

The Cifero turbo I bought years ago had a warp in the manifold, it was skimmed straight and a new gasket fitted it. Too many people thrashed the car off the lot and parked it w/o a turbo timer I expect.

Our current KE70 Corolla had one too, which is poor engineering design more than anything. Solved by carefully sorting washers for different manifold lug heights and using a one-piece gasket instead of the factory two-piece.

If they had the manifold off they should have laid a straight-edge along it and if it was warped then it needs to be skimmed to work properly. Some mechanics on here will be able to help with any future problems!

caveman - September 3, 2009 10:45 PM (GMT)
Can you take a photo of the offending item boss ?
honestly never looket at our exhaust much... 4-2-1 stainless system was there when we got it
sounds like a flange ?
if it had to be bent to replace the gasget....hmmm wrong part ?

haha yeh I am. its there for people to help them judge distance when parking. hence why I called it the JDM parking pole :P

wheel wise.

no to option one.

maybe/yes to option 2

Boss - September 3, 2009 11:53 PM (GMT)
iS_w3z... I'll look for other mags and see what ya think..

caveman... it's the flange.. thats it.. he said the corners are a little bent and that it possibly could hold for years or could give up within 6 months... he said that if i does start making the "flutter noise" again then they will have to skim it down and do it again.

what i wanna know is y did it do it in the first place..

greeneyes - September 4, 2009 12:50 AM (GMT)
Over-tightened or over-heated....

Maybe someone had headers fitted and took them off when they sold the car...

I haven't heard of anyone else with this problem.
