Hey,
Driving home last night the "Airbag" warning light came on on the dash and has stayed on ever since.
From what i have read on the net it is usually from a malfunction in a sensor???
has anyone got any ideas???
without having to fork out the $$$ to take it to a dealer to get it checked???
Any info would be much appreciated.
Thanks
Matt

Sorry to say but you'll have to take it to a dealer or workshop with the right scanner to check where the fault is on this one. Although here at work on some vehicle it can be as simple as unplugging the air bag or pre-tensioner & giving the plug/contacts a quick clean. In saying that when dealing pyrotechnics it pays to let a professional do it. I wouldn't want to be held responsible if an airbag went off in your face.
Just had this problem my self
I was quoted around $350 for the pretension spring on the steering wheel air bag but when we had a further look it was just a loose connection
P.S I did work on it my self but with supervision and advice form auto elec friends
*Update*
took it down and got it looked at at Albany Toyota's Serivce dept. at Whanagaparoa as was running late for work lol, problem with the front passanger sensor :S
and guy said couldnt give a def quote but would have to remove bumper and radiator to try and locate the sensor and see what is wrong with it so if it needs replacing would b around $400 for a second hand sensor then labour so around about $900 all up.
Have checked my policy and it should be covered under my warrenty but they are only open monday to friday so have to wait till monday to ring and see who i get on.
Will keep updating when i get more info.
