Hey guys,
i've finally gotten a workshop to do the manual conversion. yay...
I asked him to use redline oil etc. and got the reply that he only uses royal purple. What the hell is it? never heard of it. Opinions guys? is it good?

royal purple is a great product but is a tad expensive imo.
It's huge in the USA and also widely used in the trucking industry.
its as good as if not better then redline ;)

Trust me its not is this good enough for my rs200, its more like is my rs200 good enough for royal purple :P

Ouch much LOL!
I've yet to hear bad things about Royal Purple TBH.
However most in NZ tend to stick to Redline due to availability, RP not so common here compared to Redline

Just check he uses the correct GL rated oil law910. GL4 is what we should be using in the J160. Just had a quick look on the
Royal Purple site & their max-gear 75w90 is GL5 rated which can cause problems with brass synchros even though they say their product is safe to use with them. I'm sure it's good stuff in all but I'd play it safe & use
RedLine MT-90 which is GL4.

wont be able to use Redlin as the guy says he doesn't provide it. strange much?
Does manual conversion require any change in motor oil? If so RP motor oil any good?
How good are the Toyota genuine oil (motor, gears, and transmission)??
