Title: Heater Noises?
2ToneTezza - September 9, 2009 08:36 PM (GMT)
I have found a rather irritating problem with my heater(at least i think its the heater).
It sounds like a servo twitching (like you get on RC cars with interference). I'm pretty sure the sound is coming from the vents so was thinking its got something to do with a servo controlled flap/deflector for the air ducts. It can be heard when the can is stationary and the engine is cold so i've ruled out coolant bubbles which was what i thought was the problem initially.
Does anyone else have this problem? any easy fixes?

Your temp knob for the heater...is it set on hottest or coldest?
Cause my car makes a sort of bubbling sound when temp is set to hottest, even when air con isn't turned on.
By leaving the temp turned down, this sound vanishes...weird, i know.

That sounds more like your cooling system needs bleeding. Mine makes noises without even running the car.

I noticed this the other day. It stopped when I turned the vent control off auto

Mine has started doing this intermittently when on Auto as well, definately never used to do it. I usually turn the air vent control from Auto right round to Demist and back to Auto and the noise stops.

unfortunately mine does it even with the heater switched off. :(

Yeah mine too, its a really irritating noise as well. But when you turn the airflow vent through the motions you can hear things moving behind the dash (flaps and servos etc i assume) and a full move right through from Auto-Demist and back seems to stop it irrespective of if the fans/heating is on.

unfortunately not mine.
Although i have found this morning that on certain settings it is fine, which makes me think that it might be the switch itself causing issues, maybe dirty contacts (ie bad connections) on certain settings. Of course it is particularly bad on the setting i use the most
So i might try and take it out for a looksee

Hey, I have the same problem too. Normally I have my temp set on 22-24 and on Auto. I think when I change it from auto to a different setting it disappears. If anyone figures out whats happening, I would love to know.
