Title: Front Parker Lights Not Working

proud_2_be_australian - September 25, 2009 11:28 PM (GMT)
Hi,

Ive just bought myself a 2000 is200 and went to get it inspected and it failed inspection to change the rego over because the front parker lights dont work (and its too low but thats another matter). Ive had a look at them and I think it is a loose wire because I checked the fuses (i think, can anyone tell me exactly which fuse it is, not real good at japanese) and they were all fine. The lights would flash a couple of times and then go out. Could it be that both of the bulbs are gone?

Cheers,

Jarryd

Hi Jarryd
welcome to the club :D

"The lights would flash a couple of times and then go out"

this is the most interesting part, so.... they flash a couple of times and then go out each and every time you turn them on ?
or did they each flash once and then blow ?.
after market alarm ?
not overly familiar with is's but figure it should be much of a muchness ? have you tried to remove the bulbs and have a look ?

yeah i pulled them out but i have f*** all idea what im looking at because they are LEDs. And they dont flash every time i turn them on and off, just when they feel like it.

go get come $2 stock t10 bulbs, test it out, the parker fuse is with the Tail fuse on the drivers side i think.

I blew my parker fuse once and it took me awhile to figure out it's hooked up to the taillights.

Some LEDs tend to randomly flash when they have failed or about to fail. I had a similar issue with non-branded LEDs in the past.

As Nick suggested, replace them with standard globes to confirm.

the taillights are all still working so i guess it must be the bulbs. Ill go and get some cheap ones and test them out. Cheers

x2

My old LEDs did that before they died, changed back to standard bulbs, wasn't worth the hassle.

changed over the leds and now the right one isnt working but the left one is. This has to be a loose wire I assume? any ideas

Check with regular bulbs first, the left LED light may just be dead. At least regular bulbs either go or don't, there's no messing around.

Keep in mind that most LED bulbs are polarity sensitive, so try turning the bulb over 180 degrees

This happened to me, but a bit stranger.

I changed all 4 brake lights at the back to LED, switched on the headlights, climbed out of car, checked lights, yep, all of them lights up, sweet.

One day gf tells me one of the brake light's not working, which i thought was odd since LEDs lasts for years.

Turned out when I turn the headlights on, all four would light up, but when the brakes are pressed, one of them would turn off!

Switched that bulb around, then it's all good.

Switched the bulb around and now it works. Cheers for all the help guys.
