crazyeyes - September 28, 2009 04:24 AM (GMT)
hey guys my cousin purchased a 92 levin supercharged and the person who did the engine work didnt earth the motor or something and it blew the ecu.
i was wondering if anyone here new where to start looking for one or have the right connections who might be in the know.
cheers Jason
he is located in wellington
The car is a 1992 Toyota Corolla Levin GTZ Coupe
Engine is a 4agze
5 speed manual
The number on the ECU that is identical to the one that burnt out is 89661 127 90
King toyota and the auto electrican said that the earth wire was on the wrong side of the engine and that brunt it out. They swapped the wire over, but havnt been able to find a new ECU. But they assured me that if they get a new ecu itl go.

Put a post up on
ToySpeed if you're a member. I got an ECU off there for a work mate for his AE101 20v for $50 a while back

I'll ask a couple of contacts and see what i can find. How much is he prepared to spend?
Pity its not an AFM type 4AGZE as i've got a spare ecu for one of those!

car is an ae101. you have to be careful & get the correct ecu. (at least you have the ecu number)
the ecu off a map ae92 will not work. (wiring is different)
should not be too difficult to source - they do turn up on ebay & on aussie forums like toymods / twincam fairly regularly
have you considered taking your ecu to a specialist & seeing if it can be repaired? you never know, it may be easier & cheaper
