hey guys, i need some advice about the alternator of a lexus is200. My car is a lexus is200 (2000 built), the alternator does not charge whilst the car is in idle. Is that normal or should i be looking at getting a new alternator?? if so how much should one cost???

Get a voltmeter and see what the voltage is over the battery when the car is idling. Should be between 13.5 and 14.5v. If its any lower then this then yes something is wrong.

Thought i had a problem with mine but when i tested it it was at 13.8v which is fine. Turns out my battery was stuffed

um.. how much is it to get a new alternator??

my local auto electrician sourced it from somewhere...

Sorry dude no idea the exact location but try your local auto electrician and get a quote for a refurbished alternator.

The new ones are something ridiculous like $2200

holy cow... thats crazy... aww man, first my suspension went so i got Pedders Coilovers..... Then i blew 2 tyres in the last 2 weeks, $600 there.. and now the alternator and its due for a major service cause it idles funny sometimes. Got told to get the plugs changed and the injectors cleaned. The auto tranny seems to lag a little, so need to get that sussed out too.... aaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrggggggggggghhhhhhhhh!!!!!!

im hoping i can source a alternator for cheap :(
