Title: Tow Bars
Description: Anyone done them?

sydneyis200 - October 3, 2009 12:15 PM (GMT)
Hey All,

Just wondering if anyone has fitted a tow bar on their IS/Altezza ?

How much was the damage and any recommendations of places in Sydney to get one?

Mainly going to use it with a bike rack as i'm getting sick of try to squeeze it inside the car and will most likely rip something soon <_<

Cheers

pretty sure he has a quick release one fitted
looks as good as a tow bar can on a tezza :)

ive got one, the owner before me put it on, they mounted it with a big 'T' bracket with 3 bolts under the car and didnt cut anything out of the bumper like ive seen on another altezza. not too much damage was done just 3 holes under the car, no biggie ;)

I think I'd want one similar to yours jtm_usa ... got any pics ?

Was there ever a factory fitted option for these ?

I'm sure anything OEM would = $$$ but worth having a look I suppose.

these are the best pics i have at the moment, i tried to show where the mounting bolts go, theres 3 on the horizontal part of the T and 2 on the North to south part of the T. i have yet to use my towbar for anything other than protecting my exhaust from scraping on steep driveways lol
hopefully these pics will suffice until i can take some undercar shots for you

Yes, a factory tow "hook" was available for the IS from Lexus.

I have had one fitted to carry the mountain bikes. It's a removable one, which bolts underneath the car and doesn't go through the bumper like some I have seen. Cost me $350 here in NZ fitted.

Hey Hot2XS

Keen to see yours as you have the same kit as me...

Need to tow the skis somehow.

Hey Xero. Will get some pics to you when I get home in the weekend. I rang quite a few places in Mt Maunganui and Hamilton, and the place I went to (will find the name) was by far the cheapest at $350 fitted. Plus they did a great job :D

Yes was a factory option. Mine was fitted in Japan, as you should see the mounting holes on the rear chassis !!! They were also retro fitted here by the dealers in Aus.

Genuine one from Lex is not cheap but if your in Sydney go see Carousel - they do aftermarket stuff - great guys - very good prices.

I'd sell you mine, but I'm not leaving them big holes on the chassis plus I bought a jet ski and the car tow's it with ease!

Got a name or number for them Ads ... A quick Google search gave too many results <_<

Yeah i figured a Lexus one would probably be worth my kidney

Was hoping to repaint this yesterday. But installing HID's in my spot-lights took preference. Also, sorry about the dirty car
