Just a thought what are the power increases with Quads on a 3S? im sure it would sound great at 8,000rpm but will it give the 3s a little more torque?

Yea Yea I realise I have an IS but it never hurts to know...

About a 20PS gain from the quads http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxgB1Krenf0

Keep in mind the gains are quite hard to measure as the QTBs can't be ran with the stock ECU, and needs an aftermarket ECU or piggyback that uses a MAP sensor.

And the gains all depends on the ECU/Piggyback, tuner/tune, supporting mods etc.

Have a SXE10 that comes through here making 149.5KW @ rear wheels with these mods that I know of:
TRD QTB kit (
Link G4 Storm + MAP Sensor Kit
TRD Flywheel/Clutch Kit
TRD Camshafts
TRD Headgasket
Sard 540cc Injectors
Bosch 044 fuel pump

Might be more I'm not aware of. But considering that a stock SXE10 makes approx 115KW @ the rear wheels, 35KW @ the rear wheels is an impressive number for an NA car, sounds nuts too!

IS200-Winnie - October 9, 2009 09:45 AM (GMT)
True, but thats a very expensive 35Kw i guess. I know a guy in aus that has a Celica ST184 with a red top beams with Quads and the thing sounds unbelivable. The only problem is cops hate QTB qith a passion because of the noise. As soon as you pop the bonnet its either oh that looks highly illegal and slaps on a cannary, or they actually know what they are talking about and slap one on because the supporting mods are genneraly illegal anyway,

As for NA racing though I belive that Individual throttle bodies are a must, not necisarily for the peak power but for the torque curve and powerband it allows when you get the tuning right. I know on donks such as a cosworth they improve proformance incredibaly but a 3S isnt exactly in the same league.

Celica RA45 - October 9, 2009 09:39 PM (GMT)
i dont use the trd throttles as they are 2 small at 45mm but use 50mm with a 2stage set up
the trd stuff is good for what you get
amate over here has the trd pistons and rods and the high lift trd cams etc and it makes about 160 kws at back wheels with trd throttles
i have the same set up except i use vvti and run a smaller cam and with 2 stage and make 190 kws with 50mm quad throttles

IS200-Winnie - October 10, 2009 10:51 AM (GMT)
190Kw now thats what I'm talking about... It might not seem much but in a kit car that weights 600Kg its plenty... I am just guaging NA motors for a project of mine and the beams was the obvious choice as it really is a beautifull NA 4cyl. But to achive close to 200Kw atw is quite something.considering the weight and displacement of the motor.

Just got a ring from TRD Japan, the one that was on it's way is no longer on it's way as there is no stock left over in Japan and they have been discontinued :(

Celica RA45 - October 20, 2009 06:23 AM (GMT)
so that means im the only 1 making inlets and quads for these motors now and ram tubes :P :P :P so start placing orders :D :D
