TOYOTA COASTER ACHIEVES EURO V EMISSIONS TARGET
Toyota has upgraded its Coaster bus range with improved environmental performance, instruments and - on Deluxe models - a power door lock switch.
Coaster's turbocharged and intercooled 4.0-litre direct-injection engine has been upgraded to meet Euro V emission regulations.
The improved NO4C-UH engine has adopted a large-size Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) cooler to improve EGR efficiency and reduce oxides of nitrogen.
Fuel injectors and fuel injection timing have been optimised, combined with increased fuel injection pressure, which result in improved combustion efficiency.
The variable-nozzle turbocharger has improved nozzle control, which contributes to improved EGR efficiency and lower emissions.
Inside, the instrument cluster has been improved to increase readability and ease of use.
It now features LED (Light-Emitting Diode) illumination for the dials and indicator lamps, a step motor for the movement of indicator needles, an LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) odometer and trip meter, and a rheostat to vary illumination levels.
In addition, Coaster now has a low-fuel warning lamp, an anti-drag buzzer for the parking brake and a reminder buzzer and lamp for the driver's seatbelt.
A new indicator lamp signals the driver to indicate if the passenger door is in either automatic or manual mode.
Coaster's electrical system has been revised, with a new alternator and starter motor - designed to operate on 12 rather than 24 Volts - with dual 64 Amp-hour batteries.
Coaster Deluxe has the added feature of power door locks for both the driver's door and the gliding passenger's door.
