Title: Quality Audio Installer In Sydney
Description: Professional installation of headunit
wonga2046 - October 19, 2009 12:05 AM (GMT)
I'm after an installer who can fit my head unit and amp/sub into my is200 (2001 sports luxury - if that makes any difference). I heard that by installing a new head unit, the rear speakers will cease to be audible - or something along those lines. However I read that there is a way to avoid that downfall. Could anyone tell me where I can find a good installer in Sydney, who will know what I'm requesting and is able to provide such a service as i plan on keeping the stock amp and front/rear speakers as they are.
I currently have this head unit ready -
http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/car-sound/c...play-dvd/454587I've also got a 700w sub ready but I need to look for an amp. Any recommendations as to which amp i need to look for to run the sub? I'm just after something cheap as the head unit was damn expensive!
Also, does anyone know whether i'll need to buy a faceplate for the head unit to remove any gaps? And where is the best place to get one fitted?
Thanks!!

Some facts before upgrading :):
-You will need a Facia or you will have ugly gaps. -JDM Facias are for sale in the for sale section.
-If you have heated seats the facia will need to be modified to accommodate them. -There's a tutorial on the forum somewhere...
-The stock speakers will also need to be replaced as they are a non-standard ohm and would sound shit.
Other then that any place can still that gear.

those facias are too expensive for me =[ i am trying to source one from ebay or ryda. I read in a prior post u went to Doran audio, is that the one located in bankstown? Would they be able install my head unit and keep the stock amp and speakers?

ive replaced my stereo with an aftermarket one and bypassed the factory amp. there is a adaptor loom you can buy for it and it works very well, im running aftermaket amped components up front and factory rear speakers, havnt found any real problems with sound...

$45 NZD for a genuine one is too dear? :o
I would highly recommend getting rid of the stock amp along with the headunit, and so that the hew HU can do it's job, rid of the stock rears too, the stock fronts aren't too bad though. The rears don't work as they are the wrong load for new headunits

Like Nick said you wont look back after binning the factory set up. It's not bad but once you upgrade you'll realise it wasn't that great either.
Factory front speaker aren't to bad. I've finally got my trusty old Alpine MRV-F405 installed. I've bridged it so the fronts are getting about 125W+ each. Tweeters are a bit bright though. Just need some dynamat then I can put my Rainbows in with their silk tweeters.
Just got the rears running of the headunit for a bit of fill. You probably wont be able to do that in an IS as most have 2Ω rears.

haha nick i was under the impression i was to pay the non-vip price.
hmm it seems i'll have to re-think my plan and budget. just to clarify things, am i to look for a new amp and rear speakers? I would like to keep the budget as low as possible.
Also, I've been calling around most audio installers in Sydney they seem to charge an crapload. Is there anyone on the forums willing to install and charge a reasonable amount?

Might be worth it to sign up as a VIP member then? :P
If your on a budget, get a new head deck and rear speakers, that should keep you happy for quite a while

Do it right the first time else you'll regret it or even re-doing it down the track :)
