LEXUS TO DEBUT SCRATCH-RESISTANT PAINT
Lexus vehicles may soon feature paint that can "heal" itself and resist scratches caused by fingernails, carwashes and everyday use.
The paint technology, developed by Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), is likely to debut on the soon-to-be-upgraded Lexus LS Line.
The scratch-resistant clear coat features ingredients that encourage closer bonding of paint particles, resulting in a denser paint structure that delivers greater flexibility and elasticity.
To the owner, this means that their vehicle will be less prone to damage and more resistant to light and acid damage - while vehicles will be able to self restore* after light damage to painted surfaces.
