ohwel, thats one way of getting your headlight apart ;)

Gutted mate, that sucks... Any damage to the structure? or just panel and paint?

jtm_usa - October 24, 2009 11:23 PM (GMT)
yeah most of the impact was in the headlight and surrounding parts, it just shattered and pushed what was behind the headlight, furthur back so the metal mounting brackets and things behind it were pushed back so i need to bend em back into shape and if i full lock to the right, it rubs since my wheel well is a bit pushed in from everything behind the light pushing back.
so gutted ay :( sigh.

How bad is the damage to the SUV?

From the looks of your dammage, I would say it might be cheaper to go without insurance either way.
Depending on excess and the raise in premium etc. And most importantly your age.

When I backed into a pole, (my damage looked significantly worse) I had it fixed cheaper than my excess. So keep that in mind.

Oh that sucks. I remember when I put my Altezza in a ditch being stupid on gravel.... But you learn from your mistakes. Who's in the wrong? I assume you as you have insurance to talk to?

hmm... I would go insurance, the other half less damage to her Mazda6 not long ago, just pushed the headlight back, didn't look so bad, but cost around 6k to get fixed, all those brackets and such end up costing ya big time! check how your bonnet lines up with your windscreen too, if thats out you'll need new brackets and such... i'd take it to a panel beater first and get his opinion.

who's fault was it?? sorry don't mean to sound like an ass

jtm_usa - October 26, 2009 03:32 AM (GMT)

yeah i think ill go get a quote from the panel beaters 1st before i do anything its probly guna end up being cheaper to not go with insurance anyway, i dont think i did a lot of dmg to her house on wheels. so itll mainly be for my repairs ect.
we'll see come tomorrow.
thnx for all the help and support team :)

When I said I had insurance, I was told something around the 3500 mark. In the end, I paid under a grand for the panel beating and paint.

Holy sh*t. I can only guess that was from a massive car pile-up. How many cars were involved?!
