Title: Really Strange Occurance
cookie - November 6, 2009 01:02 PM (GMT)
Hi all, driving home from work yesterday and all of a sudden the hazard lights came on all by them selves. The switch did nothing. Had a look but could not find anything. Now when the ignition is on everything is normal but as soon as I turn the ignition off the hazard lights come on by themselves. I'm a bit stumped, has anyone else had something like this happen and does anyone know how to fix.
BTW it's my Altezza that's effected.

Ok, I'll have a look at that. Just need to tell me where it is. Thanks.

Yep sounds like an alarm issue. Does your alarm have an immobilizer in it? If so, when you turn your car off and the hazards flash, try starting the car. If it doesn't turn over, then your immobilizer is triggering prematurally.

have a search around the forums, but my best guess would be under the drivers side of the dash.
little black square box, you can probably identify it by touch. (if an additional relay has been fitted)...... or behind the fuse box on the drivers side footwell (i think)
if your not confident with it pay a pro.

Did a search and it is located behind the fuse box on the drivers side footwell, have to renove a couple of bolts to access it. Took out the relay and rang around for a new but being Saturday Toyota was closed and none of the other retailers (Repco etc) even had a listing. So I did what anyone else would do and gave it a few taps on the driveway and reinstalled it and everything works now. Don't worry I will be replaceing it as soon as I can get the part.
Thanks for your collective help.
