This 9 step tutorial will show how to make a multicolored background for a sig from the ground up, difficulty=7/10

1) First Start with a new document (i used 400x130), now press "D" on your keyboard and then press "X" and fill the background with black, then make a brush background (if you need some brushes, go to http://www.deviantart.com), heres what i used:

2) Make a new layer (shift + N), and fill the background with black, and another brush background, heres what i did:

3) Make yet another new layer, fil the background with black, but this time, i used a new set of abstract brushes (from http://www.deviantart.com), heres my third layer:

4) Now set the top layer blending option to overlay or soft light, and set the second layer blending option to overlay or softlight, heres what i came up with:

5) For some added effect, i added another layer and filled it with white stars (yet again, brushes from deviantart), with an transparent background, and the layer setting just at normal, heres what i have so far:

6) Time to add color, click on the brush layer below the stars layer, then go to image>adjustments>color balance (this will create a color balance layer) and play around untill you get something you like:

7) For the multicolor effect, click on the layer just above your very first layer, and again go to image>adjustments>color balance and play around again untill you get something you like:

8) Click on either of the color balance layers that you just created, and then go to filter>render>clouds and press CTRL+F untill you get something you like:
