aftershock59 - May 4, 2005 03:22 PM (GMT)
why shud anyone get it what does it do?

Im Not Last - May 4, 2005 09:35 PM (GMT)
besides bein illegal, it supposedly speeds up switchin between worlds, and has a hiscore and calculators built in

Wizzy19 - May 4, 2005 09:58 PM (GMT)
^^ as of what Last said... it IS NOT ILLEGAL!

There is proof that Andrew himself even said it was valid to use and the players using it will not be banned or have any concequences(sp?) for using it.

** And it doesnt give any speed advantage because of Jagex's " 30-second" time wait for world switchin **

If you still doubt me... go to Runescape Community and go down to the Swiftswitch section; it will have all the proof you need :P

SwiftSwitch Is Safe
Proven By: MDW

Introduction:

I have spent some time talking to Strider3282 about SwiftSwitch. I as well have seen some topics about SwiftSwitch being "unsafe". After seeing all of these topics, I spent some time testing his client extensively. What has all my testing found? Well, I am going to show you.

Part 1: ~~ Logic

All right now. Lets take things to a logical aspect why SwiftSwitch is safe. Just here at RSC we have had over 41,000+ downloads. Of all those downloads, I have seen maybe about 14 or 15 topics saying that SwiftSwitch has a keylogger. Lets take a look at that.

Section1.
SwiftSwitch Downloads From RSC: 41295
Number of "Keylogger" Topics: 15

41295 / 15 = 2753

By that calculation, about 1 in 2753 people that have downloaded SwiftSwitch, say that SwiftSwitch had a keylogger.

Lets look at this statistic:
"1 in 3 PCs hosts spyware or Trojans."

Keyloggers are a form of a Trojan.
This statistic was taken from: http://www.pcw.co.uk/

Section2.
From taking a look at that, there is a VERY good chance that the person who downloaded it already had a keylogger! You can get trojans from bots, visiting sites, etc. Don't blame SwiftSwitch from your dumb mistakes. Also, just because you are a high level player, that does not make you smart. It either shows you have been playing for a long time, or have no life. Neither one of those prove intelligence of computers.

Basically, if you are considering downloading SwiftSwitch, scan your PC for keyloggers and other things. It will save us time from having to post and close your topic. It will also help keep SwiftSwitch's good name, because most of the people that say they got a keylogger from SwiftSwitch, will go tell there friends that is has a keylogger. Which is a flat out lie.

Part 2: ~~ Virus Scanning

Now lets take a look at what the virus scans found.
In these scans, the following scaning items will be used:

* Norton Anti-Virus 2005
* Rav Anti-Virus Online
* AVG Anti-Virus 7.0 Free

The following items were scanned in the tests:

* The installer ( swiftswitch(install).exe )
* The Program Files ( C:\Program Files\SwiftSwitch\ )

Section1. -- The Scanning Of the installer.
Fact: "Most Virus Scanners can scan within *.exes to find items."

Part 3: ~~ Other

Section1. -- Tip.it Ads

Something that has been affecting people, and making them believe that SwiftSwitch is a keylogger, is because of the AdWare/SpyWare ads that attempt to download onto your PC when you view something from tip.it within SwiftBrowse. Tip.it said they are attempting to take those ads down. We'll see though. I would also like to note here, that if SwiftSwitch were really a keylogger, it would be detected as it was downloading, or right after you run the install, NOT while you have begun to use it and you are in the middle of something. That is if you have a good Anti-Virus, such as: Norton, AVG, Panda, and ect.

Conclusion:

Thats what I have found. Nothing.
The only thing I can conclude is that SwiftSwitch is a great RuneScape client and it has no keylogger of any form in it.

so what? its statistics for god's sake....and the question wasn't," is SS safe?" but." is SS legal?"

there are things that are illegal but safe....walking on private property, dumping trash in2 private proprety....etc. etc.

pt12 - May 8, 2005 03:13 PM (GMT)
andrew has given permission to strider!! End of disscusion.

Im Not Last - May 8, 2005 04:03 PM (GMT)
all andrew did was get strider to put the ads in...and he stopped it there, but technically its against the rules.

Simayan - May 8, 2005 04:59 PM (GMT)
Its not breaking the rules. You still need to wwait 30 seconds, yoi get the ads if you're a non-member, and you cant cheat. It just offers all the guides in one, along with a world switcher so you dont have have to use Andrews stupid little system of going back and forth between screens. If they ban SS, Im quitting RS, no questions. I dont give a sh*t what Fagex says, THERE IS NO ADVANTAGE!

Pardon my language.

Im Not Last - May 8, 2005 07:14 PM (GMT)
there is the advantage ovr comps who cant load stuff as fast, and its clearly breaking 1 rule....

Simayan - May 8, 2005 09:13 PM (GMT)
So what? Some comps cant handle high detail, so should we get rid f that too?

So, pretty much what your saying is, because someone has a crappy computer means we cant use a program that all basic computers made after 2002 with dial up can handle. If you dont have a good comp, buy a bteer one. Dont have the money? Get a job! Its like pro-communism what were talking about, everyone must be equal.

Im Not Last - May 8, 2005 10:21 PM (GMT)
i never said i was comunist...i said that SS users have an advantage over those without it, and that Jagex DOES NOT ALLOW the use of swiftswitch

Simayan - May 9, 2005 12:30 AM (GMT)
That is true, but there is nothing stopping ANYONE who plays RS from downloading SS Lite. My friend has one of the worst comps Ive ever seen, and he can use SS with no problem. Nobody's forcing you to download it, and nobody's restricting you either.

What do you have against it anyway? 70%+ of RS members use it, so unless Jagex wants their profits to go in the toilet...

Im Not Last - May 9, 2005 12:57 AM (GMT)
not that i dont like SS, im jus dam stubborn...im not sayin that you have to download SS, im sayin that JAGEX IS RESTRICTING YOU FROM USING IT!!! i never said that it wasnt a good idea to have such a client, im saying that JAGEX DOES NOT WANT YOU TO USE SS. get it in ur heads!!!

Simayan - May 9, 2005 07:24 PM (GMT)
Your right, they dont want it, but they cant DO anything about it!

Wizzy19 - May 9, 2005 09:24 PM (GMT)
lol man my mom could hear u guys yelling from downstairs :wacko:

I understand what Last is saying and i agree. Jagex is neither with or against SS.

And i also understand what Sim and the rest of us are saying that we use it with no fear of anything majorly bad happening.

THE END

Simayan - May 9, 2005 10:40 PM (GMT)
The End indeed.

Im Not Last - May 10, 2005 02:12 AM (GMT)
i never said that jagex wudnt do it, y else wud they hide it in their terms and conditions? all i am saying is that they said not to...
