Since the NHL Stanley Cup final began earlier today, this is a good time to begin a thread about anything, and everything hockey.

The Detroit Red Wings defeated the Pittsburgh Penguins 4-0 and looked very good in doing so. Could have been even worse since they had another goal disallowed because of goalie interference by Tomas Holmstrom.

The Wings beat them on the powerplay, shorthanded and even strength in outshooting the Penguins by almost double, 36-19.

If the Penguins want to win the Stanley Cup, I suggest they play better than that.

Sorry I didn't keep the thread updated through the finals, but game one was a sign of things to come, as Detroit went on to win the series in six games, and take their fourth Stanley Cup in eleven years. Congrats to the Wings!!!!

Next big thing on the NHL schedule is the draft which begins this coming Friday from Ottawa, Ontario.
