[Name:] Abvescrad (Vesc for short)
[Nicknames:] When pretending to be human he usually picks a name totally incongruous to his appearance. He appears to be Hispanic, more or less and thus will introduce himself as Masatsu Otani, Farooq Rahman, Bei Liang, Olaf Ivarson, Hans Schmidt or pretty much any sort of name that does not sound in the least bit Hispanic.
[Age:] 3019
[Gender:] Male
[Species:] Jaguar Demon
[Description:] In his human form he is an unusual looking sort. His features are prominent and recognizable. His nose is very broad and his eyes are a deep green tinted with yellow. The irises are unusually large, completely crowding out the whites. His face is roundish and seems to protrude a bit more than a normal man's which produces a juxtaposed effeminate effect. His forehead is rather large and would dominate his face if not for his nose.
His hair is slicked back to accentuate his already bulbous forehead to a rather silly degree. It is a very pure almost snowy white color that would be at home on an albino. It is surprisingly thick and he spends a good deal of time grooming it. The length is on he shorter side, rarely exceeding an inch or so.
He appears to be Hispanic as mentioned before. As for nationality, no one could tell you. A Peruvian might think he looks Guatemalan and a Guatamalan might think he looks Argentinian. His skin has the tarnished bronze shade characteristic of the natives of South America. The truth is, he looks like an Olmec but there is nobody alive to identify him as such.
He stands at a height of six feet and an inch. His frame is rather slim but layered with small, dense muscles. He weighs in at one hundred and sixty-six pounds.
He's the sort who dresses in clothes that are subtley absurd. Leisure suits are a favorite, but he likes almost anything that once was in style and is now long-dead. Zoot suits are in his wardrobe as well, but his regalia of choice would be khaki safari garb often complete with wide-brimmed helmet. This is, of course, after dressing like a Sherlock Holmes impersonator.
As for his age, good luck with that. He might seem to be a forty-year-old with prematurely white hair at one's first glance. Then he may seem to be in his late twenties and then in his sixties. He's got the ageless thing down pat. His nose and hair particularly create the impression of age but the wrinkless skin and slimness counter that with a look of youth. Pinning it down is just not worth the trouble.
In his demon form, his pupils tend to become slits. His hair turns yellow with a jaguar's characteristic black florets. This applies to body hair, too, such as on his arms and chest. His muscle mass increases a bit as well. Most noticable are his nails and teeth which extend and become combat effective.
[Personality:] Vesc is the sort of person who grates on you. In his more human form he's a bit too playful. He sees humans as silly short-lived beings. This is much in the way a human might see a cat or a pet canary. He often screws with their heads, seeing it as being nothing more than harmless entertainment. He may make graffiti while directly in front of a cop, or walk into an elementary school classroom and throw a handfull of dollar bills into the air. He sees it as not being so different than someone playing with a cat with a length of string. Every now and then he wants to keep a human as a pet but decides against it for fear of becoming too attatched.
However, this catlike playfulness has an undertone of cruelty. He would cheerfully withhold water from a man in need of it to "encourage" him to solve a riddle. Or he would set a car on fire at a whim. And he likely wouldn't care whether or not someone was inside.
In his demon form, this playful aspect is gone completely. It is simply drowned out by the need to hunt and kill he feels. When he is in this mood he is at his most dangerous. In fact, the emergance of his typically repressed bloodlust likely make him a good bit worse than he would be as a full-time demon.
When it comes to friends, he doesn't really have any. He's naturally solitary and prefers to remain as such.
Angering him is best done through denying him something he wants. If he's having a good time then interrupting it is an almost sure-fire way. He usually responds by way of practical jokes or manslaughter depending on his mood. However, if a subject puts up more of a fight than he believes them to be worth he is apt to roll out.
As for other species, he has very little respect for them. He sees Ferrymen and Guardians as menial simpletons and humans he treats as one might a hamster.
[Powers:]
Aura Claw: He can focus his aura around his claws to lengthen them into six-inch blades. This technique is particularly cruel as it operates at metaphysical level in addition to causing physical harm. In essence, it can be used to cut through spirit energy causing potentially permanent damage. The downside is that it is only applicable in close quarters and he has trouble manifesting them for longer than eight seconds at a time (then perhaps a twelve second break before he can call them up again).
Strength: His physical strength is at a level beyond abnormal. He can punch through solid brick and lift around 800 pounds over his head.
Agility: He's a quick son of a gun. Also very good at jumping. From a standing position he can leap about twenty eight feet vertically. As far as speed goes, he can go up to around 40 miles an hour.
[Extra:] He hates Iowa.
[History:] His parents were lower echelon demon aristocracy. More or less thugs with a bit of a title. His father never rose in rank above the equivalent of an esquire although he had a reputation as a brave warrior. Abvescrad was brought up to be like his father: a fighter. However, he didn't really want that. He was a talented fighter on one hand but he had seen his father's lack of progress. It was always better to be the hand than the knife after all.
Still, he likely would have gone on to become another version of his father had he not met Naaj. Naaj was not the sort one meets often in the demon world. This was because he was (drumroll please) a human. An Olmec shaman, Naaj (short for something much longer) was visiting the demon world with his magic via astral projection. He had sought out a jaguar to be his guide as they were very much reverenced in his religion. Vasc was very taken with the old fellow and became his guide and protector in Makai. They would discuss many things in their travels, and Vasc was always disappointed when Naaj had to return to his body. As he showed Naaj Makai, he often asked Naaj about Earth.
One day, Naaj revealed something to him. The astral projection was killing him. His essence was being swallowed up by Makai and he could come no longer. Vesc asked if there was any way he could see Earth and Naaj said that he would see what he could do. Preparing a scrying spell for Vesc he made a fatal mistake. Literally. His body gave out, and he left for Reikai. Even worse, the scrying spell he'd been preparing had already involved Vesc.
Vesc was somehow deposited into the mortal realm. He had but a shred of his strength and spent years recovering. Since then, he's been all over the world. He's now in California because he likes the climate. As for how he gets money: don't ask. However, since you asked so nicely, he's a black-market artifacts dealer. Hell, they would have found El Dorado by now if he hadn't stashed the contents fot his retirement fund. Right now, he's staying in an abandoned house in the sketchier part of town. He can afford to live more luxuriously but the slums remind him of Makai.
Alrighty darling, let's get you rolling. ^^
Personality: What makes him angry and how does he respond to this emotion? What is his attitude towards friends? What is his opinion on the other species?
Powers: Limitations and repercussions when overused?
History: Where is he currently living [have to ask ^^]?
He makes me laugh, I have no idea why though. I think it has something to do with Iowa. LOL ^_~
