What is a Spirit?The soul of a human who has recently departed from the world of the living.
Can they been seen by humans?No. Normal humans cannot see the souls of the dead; unless they are one of the few with the ability to do so. Though normally they cannot see the true form of a spirit, only a watery outline until their eyes adjust with their powers.
What is the purpose of spirits?Spirits have the potential to become Guardians, though they first must be brought to Spirit World to be judged. If they are never found they can wonder the Living World invisible to all but the demons that wish to consume them. That and several become mischievous haunts to loved ones and enemies.
Can spirits do anything unique?Yes. A spirits can possess the body of a living person if the person is unconscious or asleep. They can also enter the dreams of sleeping humans and provide some small peace to loved ones or mischief if haunting.
Another odd happening is that if a spirit were to touch a human with sleeping spirit energy they can trigger them to awake.
Can a Spirit become a guide?Yes. If they wish to continue in the Living world as a provider to someone they are more than welcome to.
Can they die?Yes. A spirit can be consumed by a demon or killed by any surge of power used against them; this being an Awakens' gifts or a Guardians' blade.
Can a Spirit be reborn as a human?It is very rare for a spirit to return to the station of the living. Though it is not impossible. Should the body reside in perfect condition after its death a spirit can return to living, but only if a Ferrymen/woman finds them in time to place them back. [At most five days if the most a Spirit can live outside its body before being unable to return to living again.]
