What are the Guardians?The protectors of the living and spirit world. They are the ones who slay demons that attack both humans and spirits within the living realm while providing protection to the spirit world so the recently departed can arrive safely.
Can they be seen by humans?Not the normal humans at least; though those with the potential to spirit abilities can see watery outlines of them. Those that are fully awakened can see them clearly, still most try to ignore them as they feel threatened by them.
Like the Ferryman/woman a Guardian can choose to take on a solid body that anyone may see though theirs is much more difficult to sustain. If a Guardian chooses to become visible they must take on a 'dummy' form that is much weaker than their normal form. To use the 'dummy' for long periods of time can and will absorb their souls into the doll and make it impossible for them to return to their true forms.
Do the Guardians attack humans who are Awakened?Yes and no. If an Awakened human proves to have too much power or attacks another living being for fun they will be considered a threat to the living world and will be hunted down by a guardian.
What do the Guardians look like?A guardian can be a man or a woman, child or adult, human or animal...there is no true form to what appearance a Guardian will take; so long as their job is completed. Though whatever form they take on first will be their sole form until death.
Do guardians age like humans?Yes and no. A guardian when born is an infant and will thus age over the years until maturity. It is at this point in their life that their powers have grown strongest and so they hold that age forevermore. Though they may be able to gain more strength over the years the moment their power could be claimed stable will be the age they will hold. Though that does not mean they cannot age more, if they wish they can push their age appearance further with their new found strength.
Is it possible for someone not born to the role to become a Guardian?Any spirits born in power or strong humans who have passed on into the Spirit World have the potential to become Guardians. If chosen the spirit or human soul will be trained in conflict and taught how to kill a demon. The course of teaching a new guardian normally takes about three hundred years before they are fully capable to take on a demon on their own; however, in their first one hundred years a group of Guardians can protect one city while still in training.
What is a guardians' powers?A Guardian can create massive amounts of energy using their spirit that can be used as a sharp attack or protection barrier. They can heal themselves or another, though using their energy for too long may cause weakness. They are also very agile and physically enhanced to take on demons.
Do they have weapons?Yes, normally a sword or dagger though many have chosen an ax, bow, or mace. It all depends on what they like the most.
Are they immortal?Yes and no. A Guardian will live until they are killed, which is more often than most expect when coming across a demon for the first time.
How can you kill a Guardian?Like any living being a guardian can be killed by all means. Blood loss, internal bleeding, beheading, burning, whatever means.
