Gray's stomach was assaulted by a continual pang.
"Damn it, not now!"
The demon gripped his stomach, feeling his dry throat with the tip of his tongue.
Gray wasn't expecting that he would have to feed so soon. After all, he was usually sated for a month after each feeding. But now, it had barely been two weeks. He was growing, and his body needed more energy to sustain itself. Having got out from his clinic late, he needed a quick source of food.
Closing his eyes, he summoned up his practiced concentration, blocking out his hunger. Controlling his breathing, the demon searched the nearby area for one with spiritual energy, for a particularly delicious meal. Several flickered in his mind, but Gray was to be cautious. He picked the one with low spiritual energy, most likely a Sleeper. This one was drunk, an easy meal.
With a look of desire evident in his beautiful eyes, Gray walked to the nearby alley, ensuring that he wasn't followed. The drunk lay there, oblivious to his fate. Letting out a spurt of his demonic energy, Gray grabbed the drunkards neck and squeezed tightly, breaking the man's neck after a short sputter. Then, the demon began to consume him, satiating his hunger and increasing his store of energy.
"Time to leave quickly. There might be an Awakened that would have sensed my energy."
Justen stood a few feet away from the scene. He stood there with his arms crossed. He had just happen to be walking by when he saw the man attack adn eat the poor drunkard. He wasn't angry or spiteful. Even demons have to eat. But the dude did it in the reltive open like this. Sure it was an easy meal but was it worth the risk of getting caught? Was he so desperate that he had to take what he could get? Well it wasn't really his problem. But he might as well warn the guy or something.
He took a few steps toward the figured who now seemed worried about something. Justne merely shrugged under his cloak. the hood covered most of his face so that only his mouth was visible. He walked out of the shadows and revealed himself behind the man in the light. "So, did you enjoy the easy meal? Because a move like that can be dangerous. Someone other than me could find you." He spoke in an impassive tone. He wsa sure he would be sensed by now. After all he was fairly close to this demon guy. The only thing Justen truly thought of was wha t ht eman's reaction would be. After someone practicly snuck up on him out of nowhere.
Gray was startled as the man snuck up on him, ashamed that in his hunger, he had neglected to pay attention to his surroundings. Adding that as something to remember, Gray callously tossed the lifeless drunk's corpse into the river yards away, having finished his meal. He wasn't worried that the splash made by the body would startle or awaken anyone, as people regularly dumped their trash in that river. It was just another garbage can or malfunctioning dishwasher as the people were concerned.
Observing the newcomer, the Demon was more amused than scared. He was obviously a human, perhaps an Awakened, but wasn't opposed to demons. If he had been, then he would have attacked while Gray was feeding in a pitiful attempt to save the human's life.
"Advice noted and discarded. I can deal with Guardians," stated Gray cooly, though he had already inserted that note into his mind, Gray then started to shed his human form, reasoning that the other one already knew the truth of what he was.
"And who might you be?" asked Gray, as his vocal cards cracked and reformed to the deep tone more befitting of a demon his stature.
Justen watched as the demon threw what was left of the man. It was a crude but effective way of getting rid of something. Justen merely shrugged at the fact the demon would reject his advise. He expected after all. And now the guy was showing his true form and demanding his name. Well that would be understandable. After all Justen didn't attack him. But he wasn't about to show his form to the demon. As for his name... well that was what aliases were for.
"My name is angel." He stated in his impassive tone. He took in the fact that this man grew wings. Well that was interesting. "I am a simple wanderer." A smile curls on his lips. "What? Are you still hungry?" His hood and cloak stay in place. His hands move slightly under his cloak as if grabbing something. Attacking to feed yourself was fine in Justen's book. But that did not mean the victim didn't have the right to defend his/herself.
