Title: Who needs history?
Description: Tagg::Caleb

Sarah Wenham - May 2, 2007 06:23 AM (GMT)
A young woman walked though the library looking for the only thing libraries had, books. Sarah has had a lot of stuff on her mind lately with everything that was going on. She keeps having the same nightmare about spiders and it keeps her up most of the night. She has a history test coming up in a week and she really needs to get caught up on it, she wasn't much of a history person. When the teacher spoke about the wars or when the states started coming together, it just went though one ear and out the other with Sarah. She liked history but only ones that fascinated her and the teacher never talked about those.

Walking though she finally found the section on history, now she had to find books on Vietnam. Her father fought in Vietnam he was a general or something but whenever she asked about Vietnam her father would always tell her stories about how he almost died and she was almost not born stuff like that, nothing that she could use. She found a book on the top shelf that read 'Second Indochina War 1960 to 1975' she thought that sounded familiar and she could use all the books she could get.

Reaching up Sarah tried pulling it off the shelf even for how tall she was, she was still having trouble. Finally the book was free but she had let go off it and it came tumbling toward the ground, she quickly moved out of the way but she didn't see that someone was bending down nearby when the book came toward them.

Caleb Danvers - May 2, 2007 06:48 AM (GMT)
Caleb was a whiz at history. It was his favorite subject. In fact, any social science seemed to be his forte. He'd scored perfect marks on the past two finals and he was sure to get another this year. Then again, he was working his butt off just to get into Harvard. His father had been a Harvard man and he'd wanted Caleb to go there. Of course, Caleb wasn't so sure. Yale was just as good, in his eyes. He was out to prove that he wasn't like his father and, yet, he was still following in his foot steps. Like everything else about his family, it seemed to be a curse. Okay, so maybe that was a bit harsh but it totally worked, right? It was the truth.

Caleb had an English assignment on Poe. The man was a genius. His teacher had assigned them a two part essay. They were to take two poets, one British and one American, and compare their works. Of course, Caleb chose Poe and Wilde. What better poems to compare than The Raven and The Ballad of Reading Gaol? He didn't think there was another, either. His mark up on Wilde was done and now he was just looking for some things on Poe. It was not just an English paper but also a history/research of sorts.

He was making his way through the aisles when he decided to pick up a few history books for an upcoming project. Caleb had leaned down to grab a book from the bottom shelf when another from one higher fell onto his back. He grunted a little when the book made contact with his back, picking it up and standing himself up as well. He paused when he saw who had dropped the book and smiled. "That's considered assault, you know?" He flashed her a charming smile to show that he was only teasing.

Sarah Wenham - May 2, 2007 07:32 AM (GMT)
"That's considered assault, you know?"

Hearing the grunt made her look down noticing it was Caleb made her sigh ."I'm sorry" she said with a smile before taking the book from his hands. "I had no idea that books could be weapons" giggling she shook her head and held the book to her chest. "I bet Reid would think other wise huh?" even though she hadn't known the boys for ever long. Reid was probably the only one that didn't care a whole lot about school.

And for some reason she got a picture in her head of Reid running down a hallway with teeth like books running after him. What a vivid imagination she had. "So what brings you to the library?" she said with raised brow while looking at him. "History or English?" grabbing at a chair near her she sat down.

Caleb Danvers - May 2, 2007 10:13 PM (GMT)
He shrugged and grinned at her. It was no big deal. It wasn't like she meant to so what was the point in freaking out about it? He knew some people who would have. "Apparently, you've never had old Mrs. Sanders for your fourth year teacher." That woman had thrown everything from a book to a shoe and a piece of chalk at him but, in his defense, it was Pogue's fault too. The guy was always - okay, so they were getting into trouble together but that wasn't the point. "I don't think Reid even knows what a book looks like," he smirked. Reid wasn't much for school but Caleb didn't really blame him. School could be a real pain, at times.

Caleb followed her to a table and sat down across from her with the book he'd grabbed. "Uh, both, actually. I've got a history project coming up and then there's that poetry paper for English. You?" He let his bag rest by the chair and folded his arms on the table, leaning against it.

Sarah Wenham - May 2, 2007 10:34 PM (GMT)
"I don't think Reid even knows what a book looks like,"

"To busy sleeping on them and looking at the pretty pictures" laughing she shook her head before grabbing at her book and opening it. "History" she said with a nod before lifting the book and showing Caleb the cover. "Mr. Archer said there's some huge test coming up and its half my grade" shrugging lightly she looked down for a second.

"Personally I'd do whatever right now to stop me from sleeping" it was meant to be in her head but she was always speaking her mind. Flashing a glance at Caleb for a second she hopped he didn't catch on to it. "Ahem, so who did you choose for your poetry paper?" she said with a raised brow.

Caleb Danvers - May 3, 2007 01:37 AM (GMT)
Caleb chuckled and nodded. "Yeah, pretty much." Somehow, the kid still managed to make it by every year. Reid was the rebel, the black sheep, if you will. Caleb still loved the guy but he got on his nerves so badly sometimes. Maybe that's what it was... Maybe because he was so close to Caleb and still fighting him at every turn, he bugged Caleb more than another would. He nodded slowly after reading the cover of the book. "Oh yeah... Heard about that one. Gotta say I'm glad I'm not you." Archer was hard. The guy loved to fail kids. If they failed, it wasn't his problem, he still had a job. Then again, he was usually the one that got all of the rejects and Caleb for sorry for kids who actually wanted to learn, like Sarah.

Caleb studied her, wondering what she meant but she'd moved on so quickly that he hadn't really had a chance to ask about it. "Wilde and Poe," he responded slowly. "What's up? Nightmares?" There was a look of concern clearly written on his face. If anyone knew Caleb, they knew he wore his heart on his sleeve. His feelings were always clear and the only thing he was good at hiding was the truth. He could keep a secret but you'd never have to wonder what he was feeling.

Sarah Wenham - May 3, 2007 03:59 AM (GMT)
"What's up? Nightmares?"

Sighing she looked up from her book and at him "Past couple of nights I've been having nightmares about spiders". Resting her elbows against the desk she looked back down. "The night after the party at The Dells, this spider crawled up on Kate's shoulder. It was disgusting" letting a small shiver trail up spine she shook her head.

"But bugs I've always freaked me out since I was a kid so I think its like a phobia or something" laughing she looked back up. "I'm sure its nothing" she said with a smile before looking back down at her book.

Caleb Danvers - May 3, 2007 04:35 AM (GMT)
His attention was cemented when she mentioned spiders. Where had he heard about spiders before? Hm... Nightmares about them and then finding one on Kate's shoulder? Yeah, he didn't think that was coincidence. Still, if he pushed it, he'd definitely sound like he was losing it. He'd just have to go through all of his books at home and talk to Gorman and his father later. Not that his father would be too much help. Mostly, Caleb would be talking to Gorman. The spiders sounded so familiar but he couldn't place them at all. "Yeah, this place is so old, it's full of them." He couldn't just not say anything. Still, it made him curious.

Caleb nodded. "Yeah, probably nothing. I mean, if anything... Look into a few books. They're always talking about how a dream can mean something else. Maybe a spider represents some teacher who totally freaks you out or something." He chuckled and shrugged, trying to make it seem as if it was no big deal, himself. "You know you can always call me, though. Right? I mean, if you ever get freaked out and just wanna talk or something. I don't sleep much, myself." Okay, so that was a bit of a lie but any opportunity to talk to Sarah, he was going to take.

Sarah Wenham - May 3, 2007 06:18 AM (GMT)
"You know you can always call me, though. Right? I mean, if you ever get freaked out and just wanna talk or something. I don't sleep much, myself."

Lifting her eyes she smiled "I know that Caleb, but I'm sure its nothing" reaching forward she rested her small hand on his much larger one. "Don't get all worried on me" grinning she looked around for a second. Not seeing any teachers or librarian's she sat up from her chair and leaned forward giving Caleb a small kiss. "What are you doing after school?" she said with a raised brow before sitting back down in her seat. Her hand never leaving Caleb's the whole time.

Caleb Danvers - May 3, 2007 08:25 AM (GMT)
He smiled gently and nodded with a small shrug. "Well, the offers on the table." That was all he could do. He wanted to know more about these dreams, too. If they bothered her, though, he wasn't going to push the issue. It caused her unhappiness and Caleb didn't want to do that to her. He cared for her and he wanted to protect her, not cause her more pain. Caleb turned his hand, slightly, brushing the back of hers with his thumb while it rested on his. He dropped his head and chuckled. He couldn't help it. There was so much that could go wrong with his loved ones. Worrying was what he did best and he didn't think that he'd ever stop.

A toothy grin broke out onto his face when she kissed him. He hadn't expected that in the least. "I'm washing my hair," he teased her. Whatever he was doing, if he was doing anything, could more than likely be put on hold for her if she had an idea. "But I could always do that later. What'd you have in mind?"

Sarah Wenham - May 3, 2007 08:41 AM (GMT)
"Well, the offers on the table."

"I'll make sure to take it when it needs to. Till then that empty room in your mansion is just gonna have to wait" smiling lightly she looked down at her book. Hearing him say something about washing his hair made her giggle. "Well aren't you the girl in this relationship, what's next we're gonna go shopping and buy the same shoes?" she laughed but it was cut-off to a yawn forming. Bringing up a hand she covered her mouth as it passed. "I was thinking we could do something? besides Nicky's. I mean if you have time after washing your hair" shaking her head she looked up at him.

Caleb Danvers - May 4, 2007 05:53 AM (GMT)
He chuckled at her, flashing a small smile. In truth, the only people who had been to his house were the guys. He didn't bring any friends home but his other wasn't the best of company to have around. He wasn't ashamed of her but she'd gone into seclusion after his father and then she'd taken up the drinking. It was hard enough taking care of her. He didn't need to bring people around to stress her out and all. "You know? I could go for a pair," he grinned. Caleb didn't do much shopping. His car was about the nicest thing he had. He dressed well but there wasn't much to it other than that. Nicky's... Yeah, there weren't many places in town that one could go to so you had to get creative. "Well, did you have anything in mind or will that be up to me." He already had a good idea in his head.

Sarah Wenham - May 4, 2007 08:11 AM (GMT)
"Well, did you have anything in mind or will that be up to me."

"Well since your Mr. Romantic surprise me" she said with grin while lifting her baby blues to meet his dark brown ones. Playing with her pencil between her fingers she looked back down for second as she wrote some stuff down in her note book. "I'm sure that brain of yours can cook something up" she said never looking up from her book. Sarah knew that Caleb had something on his mind the minute she brought it. It was one of many things she liked about him. Besides his good looks and good guy attitude. A lot of guys at Spencer were more like Aaron Abbout. Rude, assholes and treat girls like total crap.

Caleb Danvers - May 4, 2007 08:33 AM (GMT)
Her title for him caused him to chuckle. He didn't think he was Mr. Romantic or anything, he'd just been raised to treat women with a certain level of respect and try to guess what they wanted and then try to give it to them. "Right, well... When it turns out to be really cheesy, I don't want to hear anything. Deal?" He smiled over at her and then looked down at the table. Yeah, he was going to out do himself for the cheesy bit tonight but that was alright. She might like it. Hopefully she would. The real difference between Aaron and Caleb was that Caleb saw women as equals where Aaron didn't even seen them as human beings. "Just, uh, be ready by six thirty?" That sounded good enough to him.

Sarah Wenham - May 4, 2007 09:01 AM (GMT)
"Right, well... When it turns out to be really cheesy, I don't want to hear anything. Deal?"

"Oh don't worry about that, if it turns out cheesy the only person who will know about will be Kate. Then she'll tell Pogue, Pogue then will tell the other guys and then it'll come back to haunt you" laughing she shook her head. She was only kidding but the look he had given her after she had said it was priceless.

"Just, uh, be ready by six thirty?"

Grinning she raised her head and looked at him "Should I dress casual or dress up?" raising a brow she folded her arms on the table. "A girl needs to know these things ahead of time. As far as I know we could be going hiking or something" nodding she smiled sweetly at him.

Caleb Danvers - May 4, 2007 07:13 PM (GMT)
He wasn't sure if she was kidding or not. After all, it wouldn't be the first time she and Kate had spoken about him. After all, she knew about his mother before he'd said anything and while she'd said it was just girl talk... Girls talked a lot. There was an uneasy grin that broke out onto his face and he laughed with her. Hopefully, she was just kidding but that wasn't a definite. She could have very well been serious. At least about telling Kate. "Not hiking but we'll be outside." It was nice out, still. A little chilly but nice. "Dress warm," he said with an expression of mock seriousness and a nod. She looked good no matter what so he really didn't mind what she wore.

Sarah Wenham - May 5, 2007 12:54 AM (GMT)
"Not hiking but we'll be outside. Dress warm,"

Nodding she smiled "Okay, I'll see later" grabbing her books and things she slipped them into her bag. Standing up she walked across the table to his side. Leaning down she gave him a small kiss before pulling back and looking down at him "Don't be late". Stepping away she turned and made her way out of the library. As she was leaving she caught eyes with Kira. For some reason Kira hated her guts since day one. Sarah guessed was because Caleb never paid attention to her. Flashing the younger girl a small smile she brushed passed her and exited the library.

Caleb Danvers - May 5, 2007 03:34 AM (GMT)
He returned her smile and nodded. So, now he had to go get things organized for tonight. He still needed those books, though. Caleb smile a bit wider after the kiss and shook his head. "Wouldn't think of it." No, he'd be on time or early. Caleb watched her for a moment before he made his way to the find the books he needed and then back to his house to get ready for the night. His homework could wait until later. At least he could say that. Caleb could put it off and still have it done on time and properly.
